Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

A Personal Note

My evokation is complete. I have completed at least one element of every, put my heart and sole and mind into each project, and completed all ten quests.

I have also completed 6 years of university through much adversity, illness, and uncertainty and in a few weeks will be receiving my degree.

It has been quite an eventful few months, and my brain has earned a vacation. So for the next few days I'm going to relax, watch some TV, play some video…

Season 2 begins with a mystery and a bang! Act10

Okay, here's my script for the first comic of season 2, I've tried to make it explain what Evoke is all about as well as get people interested in what has happened before and what is going to happen next. Please, tell me what you think, considering its only 5 pages and most of the comics we're around 7 there is definitely room for expansion, so if you think it needs more, I'm more than willing to edit. Enjoy!…

Ottawa in Crisis

Okay so I think the biggest most realistic crisis that Ottawa, where I live now, might face that would require Ushahidi is an ice storm like the 1998 one that blanketed Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick with a thick layer of ice, bringing down hydro lines, making roads impassable and isolating huge swathes of the populace without power and food.

.

I'm tempted to discuss political unrest as well after the proroguing of our parliament and Stephen…

KISS for the girls

So this time I decided to Keep It Simple Stupid. I'd been planning on spending 30 bucks on changing the faction of one of my World of Warcraft characters (Horde to Alliance cuz I'm to lazy to lvl up an alliance character to 80, but I want to see what life on the other side is like).

I decided I could probably forego this luxury and instead I spent the money on providing vaccines and feed for a wh*** year for an enterprising Ghanaian women running a poultry farm. Will I get…

WomenWatch: What's in a Name

I began my WomenWatch research with the article "International seminar puts girls' rights in the spotlight as key to development" http://www.unicef.org/adolescence/index_53426.html

This appealed to me as I believe young people and education are key to the success of the human species. Have you seen those Ally bank commercials where the kid is subjected to the kind of ridiculous rules some banks…

Think Collectively, Act Individually

I think the future of money lies in a change of philosophy, Think Collectively, Act Individually. Our recent problems have arisen because people have given away both their money an their power away, and its high time we take it back, and then pass it on ourselves. This means we need to think about the wh*** world, the wh*** economic system, we need to learn and think about our money, not just how it can help us individually, but how it can benefit the global community as a wh***. This may seem… Continue

Rain Dance 2020

Numerous cultures all over the world have a concept called a rain dance, a ceremonial dance that calls upon the spirits to give us down here below the life-giving gift of water.

On March 24th, 2020 I propose a global 24 hour rain dance, people all over the world dancing and celebrating the earth's natural processes that give us water. At 4pm local time in every place on the planet people will gather and dance in whichever way they like in order to remind us all that nature…

Water Music

Okay so here's what I'm planning. Now that university is over I've got time to do more (though my job search is taking up a lot of time, so if anyone has an offer I'm all ears) and I've been trying to think of practical ways I can help out. I don't really have any practical skills unfortunately, but what I do have is creative ones, and as I'm just about to graduate with a music degree, I've decided to put it to good use.

I've sent out emails to all of my friends and…

Its May 2020 and me and my family are getting ready for our favourite day. Five years ago International Day was declared to celebrate cultures and people from every corner of our planet. Luckily for me an mine London, where we live, puts on one the best parties around the world.

Evokation Idea: Yet to be Named

Here's my other Evokation idea:

It doesn't have a clever name yet, but its all about libraries. I have mentioned elsewhere an idea I have had for a very long time about a huge library for all ages that is so much more than a library. In my head it is similar to the library in the move The Pagemaster. A huge castle like place with secret doors with pathways that lead to reading rooms and craft areas, a mystery section with a smoke machine and thunder and lightening, a nature…

The Uncultured Project and LifeStraw

LifeStraw and LifeStraw Family are amazing!! http://www.vestergaard-frandsen.com/lifestraw.htm

There is no doubt in my mind that if we support them, get a LifeStraw into the hands of every kid in Africa, and a LifeStraw Family filter into every household, we will be saving millions upon millions of lives.

I discovered the LifeStraw through this amazing guy named Shawn. He's the brain…

A Domestic Dinner

Its March 10th, 2020 and I am cooking up a storm. My wife Laney is picking up the kids from football practice and I'm making a special dinner to celebrate Little Lillian getting the lead in her school play. All three kids are into the dramatics, much to Laney's chagrin (she's an engineer and was hoping for at least one more scientist in the family), but was squealing with joy none the less, when Lillian gave us the news yesterday.

I'm just pulling the…

Electricity from the ground up!

Dirt! The Movie is my absolute favourite film, and so far has the answers or at least the beginnings of an answer for all of the Evoke network's problems.

In the area of a power shift Peter Girguis, an Assistant professor of organismic and evolutionary biology at Harvard, has the inspiration for my learning mission. He is working on microbial fuel cells, using microbes in the soil to create electricity. From what I remember (any evolutionary biologists please correct any…

Recycling energy.... I Need Help!

Okay, I've been trying to come up with a new way of powering something I use everyday, and I have so far come up empty. I've been thinking of things I could actually do as this is the ACT part of the mission. I've been toying with kinetic energy ideas, things like adapting the handcrank flashlight I have to power my cellphone etc. but I have no skill in that area, and have no teachers. So, I'm reaching out, looking for teachers! Anyone with background knowledge that may apply to this situation,… Continue

In Love with Luz

I found this webcomic called Luz a few years ago, and all this research for Evoke reminded me of it. Though I couldn't remember the name I did remember another webcomic associated with it. It was like a wonderful treasure hunt.

I finally found the Luz homepage again so here's the link http://www.transmission-x.com/luz/2007/10/27/luz-episode-1/

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
