Analysis of World Bank voting reforms: Governance remains illegitimate

[BWP alert] Analysis of World Bank voting reforms: Governance remains illegitimate and outdated

A new paper by BWP analyses recent shifts in voting power at the World Bank, including those agreed at the spring meetings. It examines the Bank's claims that these reforms represent significant progress towards equitable voting power between developed and developing or transition countries. A closer look shows that high-income countries will retain more than 60 per cent of voting… Continue

* If I lend you my car, I can’t also use it myself.

* When banks ‘lend’ money, they are not extending loans.

* What they do is much more important – the single most… Continue

Funding the World Bank: Major reform must be the price of UK support

A new briefing is now available on the Bretton Woods Project website:

Joint paper by ten UK development NGOs calling for the government to use IDA's 16th replenishment to push the World Bank to make significant reforms, without which the UK should not increase its cash allocation and instead consider alternative channels for aid. “Job Creation”: Former US Treasury Officer tell it as it is

“Job Creation”–Stupid Is as Stupid Does

No one can seriously doubt that the huge amounts of borrowed federal dollars poured into the economy since Barack Obama became president has prevented even more jobs from being lost than might otherwise have been the case in the current devastating recession. It’s impossible, however, to come up with a “real” number, because no economist has a good enough handle on matters to sort… Continue

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
