There are a few programs that have been implemented in Grahamstown including programs that have been started by students. The main society that is run by the students is known as 'GRASS' (Gaian Revolutions and Social Solutions) which trys to educate the members on how to act in a more sustainable manner and to use their resources to the best of their ability.
