ACT2; Food security in my community

Charité bien ordonnée commence par soi-même,

I haven't found a direct translation for that sentence, but the main idea is to start by giving the example yourself.

For more than a decade now, we are growing our own garden at home, with a sustainable approach, with an apple tree that keeps growing year after year and giving more and more, with some raspberry plants that keeps multiplying and that we share with familly and neibourghs, plus all…

Food security concerns

As a Canadian citizen living on the island of Montreal, I fully understand that our food security concerns are not as critical as for some of you around the world. We have what I could call a privileged country concern.…

Vision 2020

Being able to help, through donation of funds, via philanthropy, through sharing of time, energy, skills and ideas is a real privilege.

I already have some success in my career and participate in transfer of skills and ideas through mentoring of younger employees and education of clients.

10 years from now, I envision myself with an organize structure to channel my philantropic activities. It is not a question of an absolute dollar level, but to…

My Hero: Former President, Mr. William J. Clinton

Without a doubt, my main source of inspiration for social inovation is Bill Clinton.

Through the William J. Clinton Foundation, the former US President is very active on global subjects on an ongoing basis with: Global Initiative, Climate Initiative, HIV/AIDS Initiative and the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. Bill Clinton also acts in case of emergencies like in the aftermath of tha Asian tsunami, hurricane Katrina and actualy in…

Embrace market mechanisms

Even in the context of developing regions or countries, or for lower income families, and except for some special short term emergencies, embracing market mechanisms is a superior approach compare to charity, as selling something is a better option than giving it away.

The selling price, of course, has to be set in relation to the context; the costs involve, a normal profit under the circ**stances. But by asking a purchase price, we are forcing a recognison that some…

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
