This meal will be open to anyone who has locally assisted in the creation of it; from the people who grew the vegetables, to those who planned the menu. I will be evaluating my own impact, food wise, on the economic environment around me. As wishy washy as that sounds, I think it's a pretty practical application for me! Instead of just sizing up food for it's health and taste factor, I will think about what went into getting that piece of food to me. How far did it travel? How much did it cost? One problem in Kelowna is the number of homeless people living on the streets. These people are often short of food. The irony is that Kelowna is situated in the middle of the Okanagan; a valley known for it's fruit production.

In an ideal environment, I imagine myself 10 years from now in a streamlined, minimalistic setting. What I mean by this is that every interaction I have with the world around me furthers my pursuit of faith, education and my passions. While I am used to adapting to my environment, now my environment will adapt to my behaviours and actions.

One of the greatest challenges with technology is acceptance and usability. People who create the technology are most often those who understand it the most. Why not have the end user create the technology that they are going to be using? Therefore, not just educating, but enabling those who will be using this technology to create and impliment it is they key to success in a tough problem. People who witness the need for a solution the strongest have the best idea of what the solution entails.

Mark A. Fritts is a patent holder for a new type of IV needle. His protective sleeve stops the needle from stabbing the wall of the vein. This is an inovation because they are created at the same price that current IV needles are.
