Power my mobile phone

I live in Nuremberg, a very hilly city. I could combine my bike with a generator which could be hooked up with my mobile phone. Once I ride downhills, electricity can be generated and my mobile phone will be charged easily, maybe not fully charged at once, but considering that I ride bike at least twice a day, the power will be sufficient for a daily use.

EVOKE Season 2

I suggest that refugee should be the one of the next topics that evoke will focus on. There are millions of vulnerable people who left their countries and families and strive to live in an other place. Initiatives and solutions need to be evoked to help these stateless people overcome loneliness and settle in the new country, or support them to get back home.

About the WHO: College students are the most suitable players of evoke. We have passion, we have new thoughts and we also have…

My world water day event: paint water in our lives!

I would organize a themed painting event "water in our lives": each place in different countries has a super long canvas, kids and adults will all be invited to paint on it. They can draw anything about water, either realistically or using their fantasy: how water is used in their daily life, where does water come from and how is water cycled, what spectaculars things can be done with water, what would life be like when water is in shortage and what doohickeys may help saving water... Then…

Music inspires!!

Music is an infectious global language and has the power of inspiring people. When the next pandemic flu begins to spread, I will organize a group of musicians all over the world. We will write songs together with inspiring tunes and lyrics or lyrics that can get across information about precautions and so on. We will then take videos of people from different countries singing the songs, mix the video together and upload them. By doing so, we are trying to deliver the message that all the…

Public trust is a big issue in crisis communication

After studying the five "secrets" of crisis communication, I come to the conclusion, that trust plays a crucial role in delivering crisis messages. Public trust can be damaged when officials lie about the truth (normally they tend to put best face on dangerous situation and think it would reassure people in panic). On the contrary, it would lead to the consequence that the public tends to believe that the circ**stance should be much worse than reported, even when the message is not "sugared…

Dinner in 2020

Finally dinner is on the table! Today is the "Day of Neighborhood" and I'm sitting at the table with my neighbors. We live in a new fashion of mansion in the center of the city, but our apartments are all on the northern side of the building, because every floor of the southern side is covered with gardens, using vertical farming technique. Each family has its own garden and we plant all kinds of vegetables and crops on it. I have sweet onions, pumpkins and lettuce, and I often exchange it…

My indigenous knowledge as a 100 old woman

When I am 100 years old, the world would be totally different from today. Highly urbanized, mechanized and crowded with 15 billion people living on the earth. I will tell my grand grandchildren how our generation has fought against pollutions, irrational economic development and fought for sufficient resources for later generations. I will pass down our love towards nature, animals and plants, the awareness of importance to keep the balance between economic system and ecological system.

IFAD-funded projects foster terrace cultivation in Peru

I've investigated in the internet and found some interesting projects funded by IFAD (International Fond for Agricultural Development). A row of three projects in Peru has caught my eyes. These projects empowered communities to rebuild their livelihoods based on natural resources and to restore their once lost knowledge of terrace farming by using the communities' cultural identity and pride as driving forces for change.

Most of cultivation practices of the region's terraces date back…

Most residential areas have vegetation covered roofs and are facilitated with solar panel. Because of the convenience of shopping and going to work, people ride bikes more often than driving cars. Light-rail system snakes through the wh*** city. Waste…

Ushahidi utilized in ethnical conflicts

I am grown up in Urumqi, the capital city of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China. The most accurate social problem in the region is the ethnical conflicts between the Han people (ethnic chinese) and Uyghurs. One biggest riot happened on 5 July 2009 in Urumqi, as a protest of over 1000 Uyghurs escalated into violent attack that mainly targeted on Han people, which led to death of at least 200 people and over 1000 injuries as well as destroyed vehicles and buildings. Innocent people on…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
