My EVOKATION - Education Reform

Despite current efforts to change things, the education system, even in developed countries countries like the United States, fall flat on their face. Granted, the US has very good schools, perhaps even the best school, but those are available to those that can afford it, which is limited to very few people. With all that in mind, the United States are only ninth in developed countries.

We're not talking about Ivy League education, I'm taking about basic,…

ACT - The Superfriends of Evoke

Here's my "graphic novel" for EVOKE. It's also my last needed blog post :)

ACT 2 - Increasing Food Security

I'm currently looking through "Food Insecurities Of The World" by the FAO, or the Food Agricultural Organisation. It's saying that despite our efforts, we've only reduced the number of hungry by 9 million people in the developed, which is a good thing, but not what they were looking to accomplish. In fact, the number of problems has increased since the last five years.

However, half the countries in the developed world (30) have shown large potentials for increase in food…

LEARN 9 - The Five Secrets of Communication

Oh, EVOKE. One of the things I don't like about EVOKE is its tendencies to throw out links and making us figure out the rest. It just bugs me for some reason. Okay, well enough with my mini-rant. I suppose I'll make it easier for other people trying to wrap up their EVOKEing. So without any hesitation, Nieman's Guide to Covering Pandemic Flu. However, I'll only do the first three, cause you have to do some work.

1) With so much information, conflict within the scientific…

ACT 4 - Building Alliances

So I took the time to look for a water visionary close-by. I stumbled upon "Ashoka: Innovators for the Public" I managed to find a Celia Cruz living in Toronto, so I wrote an email to her. And instead of providing a summary, I'll just post the email:…

IMAGINE 10 - The EVOKEr's Manifesto

First rule, we don't talk about the Manifesto.

Two... gah I don't feel like counting my rules. I'm just going to shoot them out in any particular order.

Okay...

Being an EVOKE'r is a choice. You can join or leave the group as you please.

As EVOKE pa**** the realm of a digital domain, the term "group" will eventually become a very loose term, to the point that members will simply be…

Why I'm Taking A Few Days Off

Hey everyone. I haven't been posting anything on EVOKE, and I don't think I will be until Friday at the very least. I just had a very close friend of mine take his life yesterday morning (May 4th). It was completely unexpected and overwhelming, especially since it was suicide, I've been constantly questioning "why?". Although I've had the support of my friends and family, I've spent the last few days emotionally drained and a little bit… Continue

IMAGINE 9 - A Non-medical Way To Solve Pandemics

It is the 20th of May, 2011, and a new flu has emerged. It was declared a flu pandemic on the 14th, 6 days ago. Unfortunately, the medical community has not been able to identify what kind of flu it is. They predict the identification within 30 days. In the meantime, is it up to us non-medical workers to sort things out.

We have to use our logic and reasoning instead of our irrational panic to make our decisions. In 6 days, there have only been 5 people that have been…

LEARN 8 - A Case Study of Indigenous Application

There were negotiations a while ago between the town of Saskatoon with the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation in creating an urban reserve. This is not the first urban reserve to be built. This will allow a better relationship between the First Nation and the government, which has been very shaky in the past.

"Muskeg Lake Cree Nation developed an…

ACT 9 - Natural Prevention Website

Hello everyone.

It's hard to believe the crash course is almost over, I haven't invested so much time into something else similar to this.

So here is the website that I've worked on. It addresses natural disasters and what to do before or during the incident itself:

The service is…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
