THINK6 - Land grabbing in Mozambique

I was going through the WomenWatch, and this story caught my attention. The story was about land grabbers; residents who claim land after the passing of someone else. It's really hard to sum it up into one sentence, so allow be to elaborate.
Women and children around the world still don't have safety to their property; it can be taken away from them at a moment's notice, and it has. Take Mozambique for example. It's one of the poorest countries in the world, so some drastic measures are…

The Future Of Money - LEARN5

Many people are all for electronic money because of the perks they bring. And I'll be the first to admit that at the rate that we're going, we're probably going to develop a way to completely integrate real and physical money or currency in the next 10 years. Hopefully, this will be the end result. I say hopefully, because a few want to make it a completely digital system. Right now, there are so many different electronic currencies, so I'll expect that number will go up exponentially as time… Continue

IMAGINE5 - Currency in the 21st century

So I remember looking at a copy of Maclean's while at the dentist's office, and whilst skimming through, I caught a look at an article with an idea for the future of currency. This means this isn't completely my idea, but bear with me. He (I don't know the name of the article, nor the author) explains that we can start using this system of cards with tasks (just like on Evoke) that one accomplished and signed by a witness, can be exchanged for some form of "Kudos"…

The Future Of Money - ACT5

This challenge sort of opened my perspective on currency. The most important aspect I took away from it was that the form of currency used affects the way people see money and use money.… Continue

Why People Should Get Spinning Rims On Their Cars - ACT3

Just throwing a random idea out there. We can be more efficient in powering our vehicles. I know many will post blogs about adding efficiency to vehicles, but I'm sure that not too many people have thought of this:
Imagine the spinners on your car powering your car. When a car stops, the rims on a car with spinners will continue spinning, because of the momentum of the rims. Fortunately, that momentum of the rims can be used for energy. Little turbines on each wheel can generate energy from…

My Favorite Water Idea - THINK 4

I've seen this idea in an ad from a WIRED magazine maybe two to three years ago. It was a straw that converted sea water into regular drinking water. I'm not 100% if those plans came to fruition, but that sounded like an amazing idea. So the straw works by simply sucking on it ahah. It uses various filters in real time to desalt and disinfect water, although salt water tends to be less contaminated than lake water.…

How I spent my Canada Day 2020... Sounds a bit kindergarten-ish :)

Hmm, these future-y ideas seem kind of funny to me. It just sounds like those essays entitled "How I spent my summer vacations", y'know, the one's that we did in first grade. Granted, I could use a vocabulary greater than that of a first grader's.
So, I really want to throw an awesome Canada Day in 2020. For those that don't know, Canada Day takes place on July 1st, every year since 1867. People tend to be pretty patriotic about…

Awesome Solar Powered Invention - LEARN 3

Here's something really cool that I found while searching the internet:
A solar purificator; so a water container that's designed to kill harmful containers in the water. Italian inventors…

What I'll be eating on March 10th, 2020

Hey everyone,

This is the strangest thing. March 10th 2020 will be my 28th birthday. What a coincidence, eh? So the big 2-8. I think I may be living in Toronto, or Ottawa, or some big-ish city at that time. I'll probably have a wh*** new batch of friends, depending on where I go; unfortunately most of my friends will be staying in Welland now, so I'll be separated from them. Maybe I could pay a visit to my friends and family back home on that day. I suppose on that day I'll…

We will fix world hunger by MOVING BACKWARDS?!

Hello everyone,

I've had the topic of food challenge on my mind for the past few days, indirectly so. I'm trying to gain muscle, and all the muscle building articles talk about taking in more calories. So every time I sit down to a meal, I wonder who is starving at the moment. Not to the point…

IMAGINE 2020

Hahah, the title feels a bit like some sort of Beatles reunion show or something. Anyways, I saw this mission a few weeks ago, and that gave me a few weeks to think about it.

At the moment, I'm really into my main hobby, which is music. I'm almost done recording an album; at the moment, I have to record vocals (which I'll be doing in the next few days), then mixing, then off to an engineer for mastering. Then I'll have a wh*** album. I don't know if I'll make a career out…

What I learned from Exhibit A

After reading Exhibit A, I must admit that I had a moment of inspiration. Some of the tips were a bit corny, although true. The one that I took the most away with was 'provide skills, not just finished technologies'.
If we are to fix any problem, it will be by passing down skills from one country to another, from one generation to another. Developed countries like United States or Canada would be nothing like it is without the skills of its people. Even if we plopped a wh*** lot of…

My choice for a social role model

My choice for my social role model is Shaffi Mathers. I recently saw his talk on corruption and how to help fight it. I decided it was especially relevant since underdeveloped countries are facing corruption such as brides everyday.

Shaffi Mathers was an entrepreneur in India, working for two major companies, until he realized the importance of a reliable ambulance service. That is when he funded an ambulance…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Foods are vacc** sealded for easy…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
