New Idea - New Banner

Since today was "think day" I spent most of my time wandering around the city, just looking and watching. And the more I looked around, the more things I saw could be fixed - such as graffiti on the walls that needed to be painted over or houses that needed to be fixed up. Then I went about figuring out how they could be changed, and what I came up with was through youth volunteers.

You see, most of my issues with coming up with an idea were the things that I wanted to help find… Continue

The E-Mails have been Sent

So I have spent the morning constructing and sending out an introduction letter too the college, the United Way and the Rochester School District to ask for their support in this project.

While it is a small step it is the first of many that I will need to take in the 30 days that I have left to complete this personal mission of mine. The next 29 are going to be much tougher than copy/paste a letter.

Here is too the future. Let the negotiations begin. Oh, the stress but… Continue

Scholarships for Inner City Children - It's a Start

What: My plan, considering the last one came to an abrupt end, is to get at least one graduating inner city student an associates scholarship to my local community college who would not otherwise, for any number of possible reasons, be able to acquire the money needed to go.

Why: If you have read any of my last posts the answer to this question should come as no surprise. I believe that a poor education (and by poor I mean "lack of continued") is the source for so many other problems… Continue

Not So Original After All

So the Mayor got back to me last night and "respectfully" suggested that I check out the United Way since they are pretty much already doing what I was planning on doing. Son of a...

So my question now is "why isn't it working?" The educational system is still a bust. There are still people working 2 or 3 jobs just to get food on the table. The Crime rate is out of control. I mean, look at this:…

Getting Points

How are so many people earning so many points in such a short period of time?

1) They have uploaded photos of pretty much anything.

2) They create a post on their blog about pretty much anything (I think my next 400 blog posts will be titled "Blah, blah, blah" and only have a period).

3) They have had people "power vote" (probably their friends since I can not see 100 people finding the same person and voting on the same blog post on this… Continue

The First Step has been Accomplished.

I have decided to make the first bold step in getting my idea to help my community out started by contacting the Mayors office in order to try and sit down with him and discuss the idea in as much detail as I can possibly muster at that time as possible.

Now I wait...

Power to the People.

Ah, yes. 2020.

In 10 years I will be married, have two kids (already have one), living in a house with a pretty nice paying job since I will have my degree and certificates by then. I will have quit smoking, be taking walks every morning with my beautiful wife and still have time to work and run my very own NPO.

Other than that I do not know what my life will be like because those are the only things that I want to happen over the next 10 years. Anything else is just an extra bonus, I… Continue

Who is my Hero - Playpower Foundation

If you read my last post then my reasons for choosing to follow "PlayPower" should come as no surprise.

"The Playpower Foundation was created in 2008 to foster development of affordable, effective and fun learning games for under-privileged

children around the world. Motivated by the availability of

ultra-low-cost computers, Playpower has cultivated a global network of

developers, designers, academics, NGOs and businesses to participate in

the research, development… Continue

My Secret Code

"If you want to make something 10 times cheaper,

remove 90 percent of the material."

The first thing that I thought about when I read this were politicians. There is way too much politics in politics, it's no wonder nothing can get done in a timely and cost effective manner. Every couple of years we (at least in my country) go to the polls to vote on who is ultimately the best lair. They make this promise and that one, to change this or that or make this…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Foods are vacc** sealded for easy…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
