A crash course in changing the world.
After 23 years, I finally broke down and got my first credit card. I've always been afraid of credit cards because I've always viewed them as a sure fire way to sink yourself in debt and never be able to recover. However, in today's society, you have to build credit in life in order to be able to do things like buy a house or new vehicle. I've always avoided loans and credit cards in order to stay debt free and graduate debt free. Now that I'm officially about to graduate debt free, I went…

Of the five topics, I thought managing panic was the most interesting. I liked how it touched on the importance of how much trust the public has in you. If they don't trust you then they won't follow what you're trying to say in order to prevent panic.
Another important part of managing panic is the messages you send. If you are sending messages about things people aren't concerned about, then they won't listen to what you have to say. In order to reach out and communicate with…

Agent McDaniel to Urgent Evoke, repeat, Agent McDaniel to Urgent Evoke! I commend your world-wide efforts but now, I must call you to continue your mission in Romania.
Romania's agriculture industry is in dire need of reform. The people need food but farmers are having trouble producing! The country needs innovative, sustainable ways to farm their different regions, raise healthy livestock, produce full crops, finance needed equipment and grow their economy. Romania needs…

In response to the pandemic flu outbreak in my region, I would organize groups of volunteers to keep online records of who in the area were infected with the flu. In turn, these records would be distributed to my next group of volunteers who would be in charge of sorting different supplies for different infected households. Lastly, my third group of volunteers would distribute the needed supplies (nourishing foods, water, vitamins, medicines, tissues, blankets, etc.) to the infected…

I created a brief google map to showcase some of the great new features the small town of Bell has incorporated into their rural farming community in the year 2020!

When I was 23 years old in the year 2014, I found it hard to believe that people would forget about the skill of butchery. Now, in the year 2091, I look around me and see that meat cutting is a long lost art. The trade of being a butcher slowly became less important to people as the meat industry turned to line work. There is hardly anyone left now who knows how to break a full side of beef, pork or lamb from start to finish. Very few people know how to process an animal from the field to…

My indigenous knowledge was gained through a website provided by Urgent Evoke. I managed to find a page that focused on preserving the knowledge and understanding of Fijian mat making. The Fijian mats are made out of dried leaves and the website gave a step-by-step explanation of how to make the mats. Larger mats are usually fairly simple designs but smaller mats can be more intricate in both their weavings and their leaf colors. These mats made great home decorations for the people of Fiji…

Rising to the challenge of food security, I decided to actually make a video demonstrating a simple recipe that addresses food safety. Food security is a major issue in many areas around the world but food safety is just as important. When a food insecure family gets access to good food, such as meat, it is important for them not only to have it for nourishment but to also handle it in a manner that will ensure they don't get sick. In my video, I briefly address simple steps in food safety…

In an effort to help support LifeStraw's movement towards solving the world water crisis, I used my personal Facebook page to help spread the word about their amazing product, what it does and why. I also went and "liked" their official Facebook page so that I can stay up-to-date on their products and innovations as well as help keep others informed about these amazing products! I also look forward to actually purchasing one of these products soon as well!…

The closest city I live to is Gainesville. While with some Gainesville residents today, I discussed with them different hurricane disaster issues. When I asked them about how they would prepare to leave in the instance of a hurricane evacuation, they listed off things such as pack up most important personal items, pack up animals and bring other non-replacable items. I found it interesting that they didn't list things like food. When I asked them about what they would need to stock up on in…

In my region, the most likely disaster to occur is a hurricane. If a big enough hurricane hits, the massive winds and storm can cause great damage along with serious flooding. When I was younger, hurricanes had hit our area so hard that people's property and many roads flooded. Many people were left without electricity or an easily accessible way to leave/return to their homes. Some people's properties were so flooded that they had to boat to and from there house. Ourselves and our neighbors…

It's the year 2020, six years since I helped the young 4-H girl apply to college. She is now graduating from college with her Master's degree and already has a job secured as a 4-H extension agent. In her new position, she will be empowering youth every single day. She will help young boys and young girls to become the best that they can be. She is graduating with honors from her university and is eagerly awaiting to start her new job. She has already developed a new curriculum about…

Although Evoke is constantly working to help empower women around the world, I've also done some work of my own helping to empower women in my own community. Through my county's 4-H program, I have been able to both participate as a 4-H'er and now volunteer as a 4-H leader. 4-H helps children grow in knowledge and skill in many various areas, all as a part of youth development. Through this organization, I have been able to develop my own skills and knowledge as well as help other younger…

When the Philippines were hit by Typhoon Haiyan late last year, at least 15 million people were affected by its destruction. Many of the people affected were women- pregnant, nursing, of reproductive age, etc. The many women who were left homeless, hungy, without family and under many other hard circ**stances are now largely at risk of sexual abuse, trafficking, gender-based violence and unsanitary conditions. In an effort to empower these women to remain safe and healthy in the face of…

A small rural county in the U.S.A. has developed their own currency for use among citizens. Gilchrist County in the state of Florida has developed the "Gilchrist Gurrent", a currency strictly for community members. Each resident of Gilchrist County has been given a personal currency ID card. These currency ID's contain the holder's personal photo and name as…

I think the idea of a community currency is a really interesting idea and probably the idea I would side with if I had to choose. I think a community currency would be a great way to stimulate a local economy amongst its citizens. If communities in underdeveloped areas were struggling financially, a currency specific to that area (town, city, village or county) might be able to help provide better financial security for its citizens. The citizens could use the area specific currency to pay…

If I were going to find a new way to power something that I use everyday, I would probably do something for the TimeClock at work. I think that instead of the TimeClock running on batteries, I would create a solar panel that would sit on the roof and be linked to the TimeClock to power it. This wh*** new power source for time clocks would eliminate the need for batteries which would make the machine more efficient in that they wouldn't depend on non-renewable batteries. This would also make…

For the World Water Day event, I would help plan a world wide 5K race to raise awareness of water and sanitation issues as well as raise money to help fund resolving these issues. On WWD, 5K Runs will be held in multiple locations in every state, country and nation. These runs will be located near significant water sources (both clean and un-clean) such as The Great Lakes, Gamtoos River, Nile River, Amazon River, Dingle Bay, Serpentine Lake, Niagara Falls, etc. There will be an entry fee of…
