Resilience

I liked this work in particular because Ive read up on these all natural casings for telephone wires.

The way I think this would be effective for my community and I is by possibly teaming up and using these all natural but extremely strong casings against the sometimes brutal storms that we have. I think that this would prevent such a profusive amount of damage to the wires that there are blackouts.

Lessons From other Peoples Mistakes

The lesson I learned from reading this article about the issues in Bulgaria which include major pollution from the dumping of solid wastes is to make sure that the people of the US use more biodegradable fabrics and means for all things.

For example if eggs are just going to be thrown out in the end then, you might as well make the container holding the eggs biodegradable. Speaking from a fashion point of view, since thats something that interests me, I found out that…

Uses

I think that this new technology could be used during black outs in my area or possible serious storms.

The area of LongIsland that I live in is very prone to blackouts because we live so close to the water and storms are more likely to happen. I dont know I think LongIsland might have the worst case of fluxuating temperatures and that just makes for horrible storms come April. Just last night the lights went out.

I think that the technology would be especially…

Women in the Future

I think that the future of women is definetly rising. I mean we almost had a woman president! I think that as the years progress womans role in society all over the world is only going to increase. With so many social innovators all over the world working toward this one goal to change womans roles in society, I think that in the future, we will only progress as a gender.

Woman all over the world, especially in the places where women safety is a real life daily issue are…

Women

From the following video about abused teens in Afghanistan, I realized how strong women all over the world can be after such hard tribulations in life. Some of the teenage girls were still laughing and enjoying themselves after all that had happened to them.

It made me realize that the things most american girls moan about arent even close to other issues around the world. When hearing the video and how shame would be presented upon the girls for committing such "crimes" as…

New Money

A new local bank has formed called the Bank of Innovations and it is located in the Wall Street area of the city. A perfect area, if you ask me for a banks location. Right in the middle of where all the big money is! A new man on the scene created this bank as a new way of transfering, withdrawing and depositing "money". I use quotation marks around money because the money being transfered in there isnt neccessarily real money. Its a money alternative that not only saves people loads of cash…

Money Innovators

Futurist Douglas Rushkoff, famous for correctly predicting the rise of social media, is trying to convince Craigslist's Craig Newmark to create “craigbucks.” He thinks it's the obvious next step in the evolution of money. “People could buy and sell things exclusively on Craigslist using craigbucks,” Rushkoff enthuses. “Sure they'll want to keep their Visas and their MasterCards, but they'll want a specialized, alternative form of cash too.”

Capturing the World Attention

The key to this mission: Make it big, fun and memorable. How will YOU capture the world's attention?

Im not exactly sure how to capture the wh*** worlds attention for the issue of a water crisis but the best I can come up with is some serious advertising. Not so much of the hey look theres this little kid in Ethiopia that needs water but more of an in depth doc**entary style almost event where everyone has to sit down and watch whats really going on in these…

ACT4

This act mission, I wanted to find someone who was being innvotive in their search for new ways to improve water supply. I came across the Hippo Water Roller by Cynthia Koenig and became interested. First off the name drew me to what the possible product could be and when reading even more into it, I learned a lot of new things that I had not known about the water crisis before.

For one thing I did not know that the water crisis included the carrying of water from one place to…

HOLIDAY IN 2020

It is the year 2020, around christmas time, and instead of lights hanging from street corners there are LED lights on trees and street corners. LED lights are basically like regular christmas tree lights but they emitt a glow that does not use a length of burning wire or a special gas to produce light. The cost of these lights will be cheaper now in the year 2020 because all of the world will be energy efficient.

Where are you? Who are you eating with?
Where did your food come from? How did you get it?
Who prepared it? What is the dish called? What does it taste like?

I am at home and eating with my mother, little brother, and my little sister. The food came from my grandfathers garden and I got it when he brought it over. My mother and I prepared it. The dish is called veggie burgers. It tastes amazing. My mother uses all the vegetables that my grandfather brought…

LEARN2: Food In My Community

In general I dont think that my community is undergoing any type of food struggles. The area in which I live in Long Island partly rural, partly industrial and the rural areas of Long Island are actually used to grow organic foods and such. All of the food my mother buys is from these farms. In my fridge is only grass fed cow milk, cheese and butter. My grandfather actually has a mini garden growing in his backyard and he is possibly one of the healthiest 70 something year old man I have ever… Continue

IMAGINE1

When Alchemy calls ten years from now I imagine myself to be a fashion designer. I am not exactly sure how being a fashion designer can help the food crisis in Tokyo,Japan but my best idea would be to sell clothing for the cause of helping the food crisis in Japan.

I believe that the funds could be used to help the many people in Japan by funding the people who are building the rooftop gardens and etc. I think that there will always be a need for more funding when it comes to solving… Continue

LEARN1

Do the hard work needed to find a simple solution. As Leonardo da Vinci said, “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”—and it is the key to this type of design work.

I feel that this is the best secret because in relation to my life, this is the best solution to anything. When you think back historically to the many inventors of our time and realize that after putting in hours of hard work and failing a numerous amount of times, they THEN discovered a very…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Foods are vacc** sealded for easy…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
