crisis communication

It’s not easy to base decisions, actions, communications or even recommendations on science since the science is often lacking and often changing. With influenza, it’s a rapid and dynamic environment in which we are working, and sometimes I think we don’t fully appreciate how dynamic it really is.

Oldest tree

The Candler Oak is a live oak tree, Quercus virginianus, and is thought to be one of the oldest living landmarks in our area, with a rich history that parallels the establishment of our city. This Live Oak stands just south of the corner of Drayton and E. Gaston Streets and is thought to be about 300 years old

Ecotourism

This is the case of Sunungukai Camp, an ecotourism project managed by a small community of some 250 households in five rural villages (Kapandoro, Hodzi, Munando, Chidiramumba and Mapini). Situated 120km north-east of Harare, Sunungukai Camp lies on the banks of Mazowe River overlooking the Umfurudzi Safari Area—a National Parks Protected Area—in the Uzumba-Maramba-Pfungwe (UMP) District. The camp is set up as part of the Communal Areas Management Program for Indigenous Resources (CAMPFIRE).…

Housing

Since natural disaster is a real issue where im from in 2020 we would have a temporary shelter for people to live in when their homes are destroyed so that we dont have a crisis like the one in Louisiana when they had so many people living in the superdome,

Hurricane plan

Savannah has an urban resilience plan established in case of a devastating hurricane. This is a real threat to the city. The Mission of the Chatham Emergency Management Agency is to protect lives and property from the threat of all types of major emergencies and disasters, both natural and manmade. This shall be accomplished by providing community-wide leadership, guidance, support and coordination in the areas of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.

Urban Resilience

Being from Savannah GA hurricanes are a real threat to out community. There are numerous thing that could occur from this from flooding to disease. I would track the amount of people who have had their homes destroyed and hopefully this would allow people to become aware and start some philanthropic ventures to help people.

Future of Money

It was in response to this realization that a group of monetary activists in Cape Town, South Africa, decided in 2002 to investigate the field of alternative exchange systems (otherwise knows as complementary currencies, social currencies, local currencies etc.) with a view to setting up an experimental local exchange trading system (LETS) in Cape Town. LETS as an alternative paradigm in monetary thinking started in Canada in the 1980s and quickly spread around the world, becoming popular in…

Alternative Currency experience

This week my roommate and I decided to exchange services with each other. we traded off doing our duties as cadets. I found that doing things like this instead of monetary transactions can bring people closer and can make people appreciate these services better.

Alternative Currency

Kenyans use a service called M-PESA that helps people swap mobile-phone minutes as cash— you can literally pay for something at the store by transferring mobile minutes to the clerk's phone.

Clean Water Awareness

I would challenge people to not use their faucets for two days and try to find water sources. Even though we have water all around us it may be salt water or unclean and they would have to purify their own water, I think that it would bring peoples attention to the fact that water may be plentiful, but not drinkable.

Water Donation

I donated 10 dollars to the drop for drop program that uses technology to pull water out of the moisture from the air.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
