ACT4: im good already

this might seem strange to some of you, but i really do not have neither money nor time to actually get involved right now - and considering its raining right now (which is the only reason i havent left for the library to do research) and has been for the last week, there is no water shortage anyone would have to be concerned about in my area.

but over 18 months from 07 to 08 i have raised about half a million dollars for wwf, bund and the red cross (i dont know the exact number, but… Continue

Do Religion and EVOKE go together?

Dear fellow Evokees,

Education

This is Part of the Ongoing Series 'Changing Mindset'

Several studies have shown the more educated a person is, the less likely this person is to have racist or anti-immigration beliefs. The more educated a person is, the more likely they are to travel to… Continue

Imagine3: 1st day of Spring 2020

I get up and open the window. Today is the first day of spring - at least by the calendar, that is. for the last 3 years, my neighborhood has been celebrating this day as the day solar power becomes the main source of energy for our carbon-neutral homes.

well, its been sunny for the last three weeks, most of us actually have already maintenanced the thermal collectors, but today is the day we officially get together for the first barbecue of the year.

i think of the fiasco… Continue

Vegetarianism as means to help with hunger and climate change

Vegetarianism as means

to help with hunger and climate change

I do not mean to spoil anyones dinner, if you want to lose your appetite for steak, look at the Earthlings doc**entary (narrated by Joaquim Phoenix), and I dont really feel like hearing things like 'vegetarians eat my foods food', 'if we…

Collecting signatures

i know what me and my roommate did before christmas - donating all our food to a soup kitchen before we went on vacation does not really count, but i will count collecting signatures for the german BUND network, effectively putting a bill on the floor of the Bundestag to forbid farmers to plant genetically engineered food or use pesticides in a perimeter of over a mile around a field that is grown entirely biological.

the wh*** thing passed, and clean food is a form of food security… Continue

The Future of Schools?

OLPC, Classmate and the 99$ Tablet

Anyone going to college will know that you could buy a car with the money students have to spend on textbooks. Also, books are not really available in abundance in the developing world -… Continue

Music that motivates You

babies 5 months old can recognize and distinguish different rythms, the oldest flutes made from animal bones were made tenthousands of years ago.

music is probably the one language understood all over the world, and most likely one of the biggest motivators that exist.

(does EVOKE have a theme song?)

so what i wanna know is this: what music makes you happy, motivates you or inspires… Continue

2020

I touch the screen where it says 'new message from alchemy'.

damn. the toky food crisis is escalating... thats not a surpise, it was just a question of time. the tokyo food crisis... tfc... i think of the other tfc program i implemented. Trash for Cash was a moderate success in the developed world, but it really hit off in africa, to prove that recycling can help build communities make use of scarce resources.

good thing that was never tried in japan. all they have now is… Continue

Sahara Solar Plant

A few years ago, an australian miner told me over a few beers that he did not like being a miner and that he just 'did it for the money'. That was kind of funny, because this fellow looked like he was built to be either a miner or a professional wrestler (he later told me his real passion lay with writing short stories - which is tough if you spend your time working in a copper mine).

Because I knew Australia to be a very coal-dependent country, the conversation quickly turned to the… Continue

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
