Crisis

In a crisis, people need to realize that there isn’t one person who knows what is happening and why. A lot of people have different ideas as to the who, what, when, where, why’s, and some of them conflict. You need to get several views
from several different parties, and get a general consensus from there. If you
realize that there isn’t one answer, you can try to find the general happenings
of the situation.

Next Year

I would try to tackle the off-shore dilemma. What resources do we have here in the country that we can’t ship overseas? We need to focus on the creative arts.

US and European high schools…

Rainforest for sale!

People value what they own. They always take better care of their own things than someone else’s, especially if it is important to them. If you take something, like a rainforest, and make it important to the people around it, the people there will protect it. If the resource can make a profit, there’s even more reason to protect it. People also should take pride in their resources. It’s not every day…

Ice Storms

Tulsa has a bad history of ice storms. They destroy everything. Ice weighs more than it seems. It can break power lines, trees, buildings, you name it.

There are lots of things we need to…

The Favour Bank

The Favour Bank

by Cat Cramer

I find paying for goods and services using e-money is such a rigid and formal process. Will we see other systems of trade emerge as e-money replaces cash? I decided to look at de-centralised, unmonitored methods of trading services, which resulted in an experiment called the favour bank. The favour bank works on a currency of favours. If you need a favour you can take a contact from the bank as long as you…

Water 1st International

Over 1 billion people worldwide lack access to safe drinking water.

2.5 billion people worldwide lack hygienic toilets.

These are the estimates reported by the World Health Organization.

A child killer: Surviving diarrhea is the greatest single challenge for our world’s children. 5 million people die each year from water-related diseases, mostly children under the age of five. Diarrhea is the leading cause of death of children in countries with high child…

Solar powered AAs

Okay, so I did a little research and this is what I found.

A solar powered AA battery charger goes for $4.99 on Amazon.com, can be more for bigger or more diverse chargers, but I think this will work for the task at hand. This one charges 4 AA batteries.

A Turbo Charge TC² Portable Charger for the iPod and iPhone goes for $13.98 on Amazon right now. It takes two AA batteries and has good reviews.

A four pack of Duracell…

What's for dinner? March 10, 2020

In 2020 we will have gone back to our roots. Research shows that older diets, such as the Mediterranean diet, are healthier than the modern American ones. The Mediterranean diet was more a lifestyle, something you had to commit to entirely. It isn't something you can cheat around. The lifestyle was imagined from high activity, Mediterranean nutrition, anti stress attitudes and not much money. There is not one specific Mediterranean diet; many countries border the sea. It is considered to be the… Continue

Oklahoma hunger

In a 2007 article by the Tulsa World newspaper, Oklahoma was one of the 15 states in the US whose food insecurity, aka hunger, was above the national average.

A 2008 article on bread.org (bread for the world) said Oklahoma was among the nation's hungriest, one of the…

Ten years from now

In ten years, in an ideal scenario, I'd be living in Istanbul, Turkey. It's one of my favorite places in the world. I love the culture and the lifestyle. I will have graduated from college with a degree in either education or music, or a combination of the two, and will have a small house on the Europe side of Istanbul. I'll be able to speak Turkish as well as possibly French. I won't have a car if I can avoid it, I'd rather walk. I'd be working on ways to protect the Bosphorus from…

Dan Ilett and Greenbang.com

I chose journalist Dan Ilett who blogs on Greenbang.com because I think that going green is an important aspect to just about any problem. Sustainability is important when trying to fix something; we want a solution that will last longer than the problem. To find a solution we need to understand the problem and why it is happening. Greenbang covers stories that look at not just how to go green, but why it is necessary and why we're not at the moment. One of his stories, "Eco cheese wins… Continue

Favorite Evidence

My favorite evidence out of the article is "If you want to make something 10 times cheaper, remove 90 percent of the material". I think that in order to create things that are actually feasible to use on a large scale, it needs to be inexpensive. It also needs to be easy to make so it can be produced on that large scale. It is also (probably) easier to get that material when you don't need as much. This could help me, or anyone else, change the world because it makes it within reach. Most… Continue

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
