Over the past couple weeks may of you have come to know Stefano Ceiri as a thought provoking, eager and kind EVOKE agent. While following the torrents of posts on blogs like WHATS GOING ON?? & Agents losing their sparks, I noticed that Stefano mentioned that the recent
panamericana fiasco has caused him to have doubts about EVOKE. It made me sad that Stefano might leave so I wrote him a message.
I decided to post the message…

Hello EVOKE,
It is time to get back to work. I have been working on a couple of projects:
SEED,
Gratitude Gardens,
Wind Powered Laptop--but I am interested in what you all are doing?
I think it would be awesome if everyone made a brief reply…

The object of Water Day is to get the worlds attention, to raise awareness for the need of sanitation and clean water. If I were put in charge of Water Day 2020 I would draw inspiration from the October 30, 1938 radio broadcast of H. G. Wells book,
War of the Worlds. In case you don't know the story here is the gist.
On Sunday, October 30, 1938, millions of radio listeners were shocked when radio news alerts…

Lack of food and especially fresh water in impoverished countries like Africa are often seen as less vital causes in light of many of the other issues like the epidemic level of HIV/AIDS--Things could not be farther from the truth. Without food and clean water, people become desperate, violent, and sick. The problem is that clean water is not glamorous--or at least is wasn't. Of all the great efforts that have been made to make clean water available, Scott Harrison and his NPO Charity Water…

Hello EVOKE.
Over the past two weeks I have been monitoring the increasing dissatisfaction that people are having with EVOKE. What I thought I would do is be one of those def-mutes--just ignore the grumblings and play the game. This week we saw the first instances of EVOKE members leaving, and in an effort to prevent that from happening again I want to share some thoughts with you all.
First: EVOKE is not about getting the most power points. The power points are there to help…

OK so
take two. I took a lot of your suggestions and took another stab at getting the turbine to work better.
I rebuilt the earlier model so that I could attach it to a proper tripod.
I would have liked to enhance the gear ratio but I was already using the largest and smallest Lego gears that I had.…

My favorite device is my laptop. I use it everyday and I would love to be able to charge it with wind power. Turbines are cool but I know that there is emerging tech, like sails that are even better. I was also thinking that if you could draw power from the trees as they blow in the wind. Either by attaching lines to the tops an draw power from arresting the top from swaying or even better if you could intercept the energy as it is transferred down the trunk into the ground. If anyone has any…

in 2010 me and my friends will be celebrating WindDay. It's a new official holiday that celebrates when Wind energy officially met 100% of America's energy needs. On this day everyone flies kits. It is customary to build your own, but you don't have to. Think how beautiful it will be when hundreds no thousands of kits are in the sky, flown by all ages of people who are celebrating the joys of the wind. On TV news casters talk about emerging wind technology, they have educational segments which…

Ive been scouring the web for interesting stories about creative solutions to the energy crisis.
the first one I found was on TED.com
http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/adam_grosser_and_his_sustainable_fridge.htmlAdam Grosser uses Ferdinand Carre's invention of absorption refrigeration to create a 20$ refrigerator that can last 24 hrs and only requires a campfire to warm it for 30…

Amos, I hope you read this because I have been thinking a lot about your farm punk idea. I think that it could really work, especially if you created a community of people who help one another with the farms.
If you don't know about Amos's plan check it out here in his blog:
http://www.urgentevoke.com/profiles/blogs/learn2-food-security-in. Having a kit that instructs and guides people how to make a working…

After reading all the information about food security I was really interested in finding out how secure my community was. I live in Bedford Massachusetts and it turns out that my town and the surrounding areas are well fed. There are at least 5 local farms within a 10 mile radius around me. I was feeling pretty good about this until I read Amos Meeks' Learn2 post:…

http://www.kiva.org. It is a website that allows regular people to fund foreign entrepreneurs. As it is my dream to become an investor of this type I am more then over excited. Just wanted to let other people know of this amazing oppertunity!

Does this piss anyone else off?
"Those who promised to help us are the same people killing us.Our leaders don't think about us. Our leaders don't care about us. Africa is poor because our leaders are very poor-minded people. They come to
power with fake promises and once they are up there in the high
offices, they forget about the people who put them there.
Not that we…

So I private messaged my group of friends about my concern with safety when traveling abroad to unstable regions. Since then I have had a number of interesting replies and done a bit more research on the subject. I was asked by
John Tsangaris to make this a more open discussion so here we go.
This is my original post.As…

So I have been thinking about doing some interviews with people I know who the community might like to hear from. The first person who came to mind was a teacher of mine named Chaz Maviyane Davies. He is a world famous poster designer who uses word image combination to talk about political, social, environmental and many other important issues.
Here is what he has to say about his work:
"Over the years I have tried to use images and ideas to cut through
complacency and apathy…

Hello everyone, I made this video the other week to introduce my proposal to the Evoke Network. Overall the response has been positive so I though I would introduce it to the rest of you. Please give me any feedback, positive and negative. Also if you are interested in getting involved I would LOVE that. This is a HUGE undertaking, and without your help I can't do it. There is also a Wikipage that's not 100% right now but it does have some info, and I will be working on it some more.…

I love the act challenge and have been working to find social innovators who are doing the work that makes me excited. I have contacted Lebone, a company which works on creating organic batteries. Check it out here, pretty incredible tech,
http://www.lebone.org/. I'm also shadowing Amy Smith. I really like her in field work, I think that she really lives the advice that she gives.

While reading the posted article, entitled "Innovation in Africa" I
found a number of parallels between their suggestions and the processes
by which I as an artist have been taught to create work.
At
the beginning of last year I had a professor who told us that while we
are generating our initial concept we should pretend that we have
unlimited funds and time. Then once we have generated the best idea we
can try and do it with 5$ and one week. This process…

I recently realized that my talent in life is seeing the talents in
other people. I think that that the best way for me to utilize this
gift is to start funding people that I know will be successful. Ideally
in the year 2020 when Alchemy summons me to aid in Japan's food crisis
I will be living in the state of Nevada in America and spending all my
money and energy to help fund and support people who I can tell will
make a difference in this world for the better.
