IMAGINE2: Board-Games Night @ Amanda's House - April 10th, 2020.

It's a casual affair - nothing too extravagant for a Tuesday night. We've got a few friends coming round for a board game night so I'm playing host.

For around the gaming table we've got spicy baked radish chips (or crisps, if you're British like me) with chive and cilantro (coriander) yogurt dip, and a…

LEARN2: Hunger in Massachusetts

I'm new to Massachusetts - new to the country, in fact (moved here recently from the UK) so I was surprised to read of the work being done by Project Bread in Massachusetts.

Apparently, the town that I'm now living in has a 6 times greater than average prevalence of hunger than the statewide average, and one in three children are living in a home where the family struggles to…

Windowsill Gardening 1 - Growing Food Fast

Many people are talking about potential solutions to the 2020:Tokyo food shortage, and a lot of those solutions involve growing alternative crops in urban environments - so I've decided to try it for myself.

GAME1: My fave power is Creativity

(This post is part of the GAME1: Power Evocation game - link here to find out more, and how to play!)

Creativity is probably my favorite Evoke Power - I like to think that I've been very creative all through my life. Here is an example:

When I was little, I was in the playground at school and an even younger girl walked up to me, crying. She'd dropped her bouncy-ball into a rain filled drain in… Continue

ACT1: Don Norman, and his Everyday Things

Don Norman wrote the amazingly influential book, "The Design of Everyday Things" - required reading for anyone involved with design, they say (and I agree). In the book, he bemoans the interfaces that clutter our lives and confound even the most intelligent of hopeless cases.

He ranted about overly complex phone systems. How incredibly obtuse setting the VCR was. Why the light switches in your home don't give you any hints to which lights they turn on. And so on, and so…

IMAGINE1: 2020 - World Level Designer

March 3rd, 2020 - my birthday!

I'm out at a party, celebrating my birthday and indeed success in general. The latest augmented reality game I've been working on has just been released, and people all over the developed world are logging in, and exploring the spaces that I've helped create. Intricate worlds, overlayed on our own mundane worlds providing escapism, education and excitement - leaving lots of room for people to create their own cybermythology entwined with the…

LEARN1: Innovative Constraints in Game Design

As a computer game level designer, and designer of games in general, this is the truth that rang clearest in my mind - constraints are what cradle the genius. When designing a level for a game, you would imagine that being told that you can make any level at all would be the best way to work - but it's far from it. A good level designer thrives on being given a restraint or several - maybe it's how high the player can jump, maybe it's… Continue

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
