A crash course in changing the world.
For this task first I tried the easy ones (I'm being honest) and donate some bucks for sometostart or countinue their business, but then I realize that because I live in Mexico is really hard to donate through a site like Kive. Then I choose to buy something with paypal, but is the same issue: because I don't have an adress in the states is really hard for me to have an account.
So what did I do? well, as Alchimist recomended in the mission, I join forces with some of my friends to…

After reading all the visions about the future of money I have to say that the one that seems to me is going to have the biggest impact in our economic systems is goin to be the electronic money, which we can transfer and make payments through our phones.
When paypal, twitpay and all the others get really connected, we are going to be able to go to a store only with our cell phone, send a twit to the store and voila everything is paid.
Our cell phone is going to…

Ok. Ten years have passed since the day I was put in charge of planning Water Day Celebretion for 2020.
Through all those years I've been learning a lot about the water crisis that the world used to have. Now, thanks to social innovators, and the people that supported them, we have solutions to the water problem.
Africa, Latinamerica an South Asia now have a growing rate of access to clean and safe water. Everyday more and more people in those regions have a better quality of…

in Mexico we are not yet conscious about the water problem, maybe because we are sourrounded by water and have a lot of rivers and so; maybe because we suffered flods every year; or maybe because 88% of the population has access to safe water.
But people doesn't realize that every year more and more sectors in big cities (Mexico City and Monterrey) have shortages or cut downs every now and then through the week.
And Mexcio face another problem: the end of natural oasis…

I first thought to write about Michel Pritchard's water bottle. I found his presentation in Ted Talks, and for me is a great and simple idea, that can really improve the life of a lot of people.
But then I figured that he's bottle water is already popular (he's been on TED talks) so why no try harder and find some other invention?
So there I was surfing the web, asking some friends when I found the Savior Bud idea.…

First I tought about doing a solar charger for something that I use every day, like my cellphone. Then I started thinking about how to do it, so I asked to myself: where can I find a solar cell? The answer was very simple: from a garden solar lamp (You can't find solar cells in the stores in Mexico like in the states) like the ones you find in Home Depot.
Then, the only thing to do was to take the solar cell from the lamp, and - some how - put it on the charger. Shouldn't be so…

This year we are celebrating 200 years of indepence and 100 years since the mexican revolution. In 2020 we'll be celebratings 210 years of being an independent country and 110 years since the revolution and the 5 years from the start of the new power systems inthe country. With the consolidation of the eolics farms in 2015, Mexico one has become one of the top 3 producers of clean energy. http://www.eolicenergynews.org/?cat=64

ContinueI chose Husk Power System (http://huskpowersystems.com/home.htm) which is a company that transforms rice husks to electricity in India.
Chip Ransler and Manoj Sinha are key principals behind HPS, a for-profit company. The organization utilizes this technology in the production and operation of 35-100 kW mini power plants that deliver pay-for-use electricity to un-electrified villages in India’s “Rice…

It's March. Year: 2020
I'm just steping down the plane. Africa has changed in the last decade. So much that some called the Recovery Decade. I'm heading to be part of a dinner party throw to celebrate the fair trade agreement between the African Union an the Latin American Union. Also, this year is the first year when the average poverty rate in east africa fell under 10%.
The agreement is going to be signed in Ethopia, a country once affected by a drought crisis, now is in the…

Today I was watching the morning news. I saw the flood in Washington state in the U.S. and just after this I saw how east africa is being devastated by the drought crisis that is living.
One part of the world suffers because of the water excess, and the other one suffers because their lack of water.
But what if we could move all the water from the flood in washington state to the drought areas in east africa? When we figure it out, we'll be one step closer to solve the food…
ContinueLast week I decided to start an urban farm from my own. I took this decision because I thought why not? How hard it can be? I saw an example of a mexican urban farm here in the evoke network and that motivated me to do it to.
First I needed the basic kownledge for growing a garden. So I surfed the web to find something like a handbook for it (here in evoke are some tips about it)
Then I had to find where to buy all the things for doing it so. That was the hard part: there…
ContinueAfter a wh*** week of intense research about food security in Mexico, this are my findings.
Especifically in my community, Monterrey city in the state of Nuevo Leon, northeast of Mexico (border state with USA), there are none projects aiming to takle the food security problem, like there isn't one. Nuevo Leon is the third state with the largest GDP in the country and has the second place in food access. Because of that, the goverment - or the society - doesn't give much…

I've been researching since the new mission came out, trying to find the info that I need to complete it but I came across with an awfull truth: there's no much concern in Mexico about food security. It seems that the rising prices of food (like tortilla for example, a basic food here), doesn't start any alarms in the people or the goverment. The only thing that I have found, other tha the FAO, is PESA: Programa Especial para la Seguridad Alimentaria (Special Program for Food Security,…

Here's a new skill that we can develop to help others.
In the videos you will find info about how to bring clean water to poor communities.

We need this kind of skill for everything that we are going to do in the future. If you wat to start your own company, if your are a porject leader, if you want to repair yoru house, all of it is going to turno more easier if we know how to manage all the parts.
Project management can help you to visualize all the details. When we are planning a big project, usually we get lost in all the stuff we have to do, in the deadlines, in the resources, well in everything. If…

I have just seen the 2010 Earth Hour's official video. As you know, this is a world wide initiative that promotes to turn out our lights for a h*** hour. This means TV, laptop, light bulbs, averything that is plugged or is consuming energy.
This year the day is March 27th at 8:30 p.m. local time.
The earth hour is a great opportunity to take action, and to involve others in doing so. We can tell all of our friends, maybe throw a party where we invite our neighbors and convince…

I have always be interested in the future, not only in my own but the future of my family, my community, my country (Mexico), my region and the world's future.
I know that we are headding towards a cliff if we don't start being conscious about that. The global warming, the wars, the gap between rich and poors, well all problems are going to hit us - hard - if we don't start doing something to adress them.
I'm in favor of sustainability, even more I belive in it. I been working…
ContinueThe role model that I've choosen is Elias Kuri, the coordinator of a movement called Iluminemos Mexico (something like Illuminate Mexico or Lighting Mexico) This movement focus on engage citizens to participate in the every day decisions that the goverment takes (at all leves, local, state or country).
The first action that they did was to call upon a march, two years ago, to demad the goverment to take action on the insecurity problem that we are living today because of the drug…
ContinueIt is a real pleasure to find another mexican in the the Evoke Network - I've already added him as a friend. Mexico is a country with a lot of needs, is still an underdevelopment conutry not a developing one. Sure we are on the G20 and more international institutions, but the reality is that 54% of the people living in Mexico are poor, there's not a good acces to education and opportunities and we are ranked as the number one country with obessity in kids. Just to mention few of the…
