An Exercise in Troubleshooting

i am a maintenance electrician in an industrial setting. what that

means is that process operators call me when their automated equipment

is not working, and i troubleshoot it and get it back online. for each

call that i go to, i apply the same formula for solving the problem:…

Future Meals

in the year 2020, i hope to be sitting down to a meal that consists of veggies grown right in my back yard, and organic meat that is grown and processed locally.

however, if its winter and our garden isn't producing, i'd like to be able to be able to go and pick up some fresh veggies grown at the local greenhouse. the local greenhouse is heated geothermically, uses fiber optic lighting during the day, and ultra high efficiency full spectrum lighting at night. most of the operations… Continue

The Home Garden

My wife is an avid gardener, but this year she is going all out. i built her a bunch of big raised beds out of cinder blocks, and a couple of smaller ones out of wood. i made a few trellis' so that the veggies can climb up and use the space as efficiently as possible. i'm sure i'll end up helping to can a lot of the veggies later this year, and i'm sure we will be giving some of it away.

Food Security Challenge

i live in the west kootney region of british columbia canada. food supply in this area is largely dependent on shipping routes and methods. however, this area has the potential to be completely self sufficient in every way. we have tons of water here. we have the arrow lakes and kootney lake which both come together to form the head waters of the columbia river. very large fish of many different species are found in our waters. this area is very fertile and heavily vegetated with edible wild… Continue

An Overview of Future History

by the time 2020 comes around, the human race has collectively realized that in order to truly be civilized, all manners of social oppression had to come to an end.

it started with the collapse of the monetary system. the currencies of several countries began to plummet in value because they were so far in debt, that they could not even make the interest payments on their deficits. first, the economies of individual countries crumbled, but then the problem became global. one by one,… Continue

LEARN1- Design in Africa

the people in these depressed regions are not starving, drinking dirty water, and living without clothing or shelter because there is a lack of resources on the planet. they don’t have these things because

they have a lack of purchasing power. simply put, they don’t have the

money to purchase the necessities of life. there are a few reasons why

this could be the case. either they have absolutely no resources that the

rest of the consumer world wants, and therefore have…

ACT1 - My Hero: Jacque Fresco

When it comes to social innovation, jacque fresco is clearly on the cutting edge. is the world ready to understand his ideals? i don't know. do i agree with 100% of what he says? no, but its up there at least into the mid to high 90%'s. even jacque himself admits that his ideas are not perfect. but he is willing to listen and learn and involve anyone that is interested, and that's good enough for me. has the world outgrown the current social systems we have? absolutely!!!!!!

to get an… Continue

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
