Ideas that can change India

Find three ideas you want to adopt, or technologies you want to learn to work with, or innovations you want to spread. Search the internet, or ask your friends and mentors on the EVOKE network for help. Share at least one amazing story for each -- an example of another hero putting them into action. Make us feel awe, wonder and amazement -- and then post a link to the story that inspired you.…

Be careful what you wish for

I always wanted to write this but perhaps this diagram triggered me to finally pen my thoughts here in a separate blog. And thank you Agent Rao for inspiring me to doing so. The graphic illustration has succeeded in communicating the key issue posed by the open… Continue

Making Our Deserts Bloom

I am an optimist. I am a firm believer in the 'long tail' of innovation. I see our Indian deserts and the associated arid lands as opportunity to explore for potential farming endeavors using radical innovations brought by the next generation of Israel's innovative and entrepreneurial firms

Making our deserts bloom is a central theme inspired by Israel's tryst with nature to create a… Continue

Small is Beautiful | Global Energy

in the

Context

of developing and under developed nations?

which path will you choose if it were not a game

I have this tendency of always getting very excited every time I hear my friend Murray (he's on my friend list!) speak....i mean I am almost instantly all charged up to enact my fantasy scenario game....based on what he just wrote in one of the blogs:

"That is brilliant! I know pharmaceuticals can have terribly high prices

on their often cheaply made medicines..."…

What if wishes were horses

Can I imagine myself in ten years from now feeling more younger, communicating with more simplicity and evoking my peers to join me in building a genuinely empathetic and socially responsive India where there is greater equality, inclusion and inspiration.

I see myself living in India with a renewed zeal to make innovation embedded in my entrepreneurial DNA while making it my mission to co-create… Continue

having the cake and eating it too

Developing countries face the greatest challenge from food insecurity. Simplistic approach to prevent a food crisis could be growing your own veggies on your balcony or roof top. Great idea. It can help no doubt. Only if you have the time. As a person you may do so. But as a nation, you can't do so. Let's get realistic. There is no room for naivety when there is a clear and present… Continue

If nobody listens to your call, walk 'Barefoot' with Bunker Roy

Nobel Laureate, poet and one of the greatest Bengali literary figure, Rabindranath Tagore's famous words: "if nobody listens to your call, walk alone" seems apt to start this short write-up on a special person who has dedicated his entire life for rural empowerment and given us inspiration how to create context and character for our social innovation initiatives. Bunker Roy lives by it everyday, transforming livelihood of… Continue

when cheaper might not be the best answer

"Purpose is the place where your deep gladness meets the world's needs."

- Frederick Buechner on Social Transformation

If purpose of social innovation is to provide endearing value to all stakeholders of an inclusive society, we need to understand the narrative of what we mean by endearing value. I reckon we need to progress from seeing value as a mere function of affordability. We need to progress… Continue

Innovation must deliver value

Sometimes when we are almost sure that we have created innovation in what we intend to offer in terms of a product or a service feature, we tend to miss the essence of innovation: value creation.

So when I read the 33 different secrets to innovation in the 'Design for Africa' post, I felt the one thing that can critically alter the narrative of what innovation can be - is the quest for value. So whether innovation can DELIVER VALUE especially in the context of whether there is a… Continue

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
