One thing that practically every business is using these days is computers. Especially in the big cities where many office workers spend their days inside an office tower in front of a computer. These office blocks are huge consumers of power. From the computers, to the printers, phone lines, lights, coffee machines all the way down to the beer fridges huge amounts of power is being consumed by administrative businesses that give very little back in the way of power generation. If we could…

This website is dedicated to sustainable energy ideas in Australia. One of the biggest sustainable energy projects near where I live in Western Australia is wind-farms. It would be a pretty big ask for me alone to help people in the Grahamstown community with their food security. I am not the sort of person who will just help one person as there are so many people out there struggling on a daily basis and living hand to mouth in order to survive. Obesity will have become a major problem in the Western world by 2015 and the health system will have a much greater reliance on in to help people with artery related problems. This will force government to chance food outlet regulations and fast food companies like McDonalds and KFC will be monitored much more closely for fat inputs etc. Food stores such as Subway will increase in popularity and more…

I chose Al Gore as my social entrepreneur. I feel that this man is the person who has used his position the most effectively as an authority and well known figure to bring about change in peoples minds. In a way to me, as a non-africa i see him as my version of Nelson Mandela. In regards to his climate change activism he is trying to take on what many would say is the possible - getting a big enough group of people to believe that climate change is real and needs something done about it.…

Ten years from now I hope that I have a good idea of what I want to do in life - coming from a very privilaged background in Australia and now spending time in South Africa has seriously changed my perspective on life and what we take for granted living in a modern western society. Although I hope to be running my family farm in Australia in 2020 and producing food - wheat, barley and meat for the ma**** I now realise how many underprivilaged people there are living in this world.
It…
