AWARENESS

I think that our greatest challenge in Africa is LACK OF INFORMATION. Every effort should be targeted in information sharing.

I have been aware of SOCIAL EDGE, WATER FOR PEOPLE and ASHOKA. Their work has been quite inspiring and challenging.

I took action by making flyers to promote the work of these social innovators in my community.

I have tried to give out this piece of information to certain people in…

WATER! - FEARFUL STATISTICS

Statistics reveal that the lack of access to clean water and basic sanitation affects more than 2.6 billion people globally, and kills more children than malaria, HIV/AIDS and TB combined.
Also, 4,000 children under the age of five die every day from preventable illnesses such as diarrhea, typhoid, ch***ra and dysentery.

In Nigeria, diarrhea is the second largest killer of children, causing as many as 17 percent of the deaths of those under the age of five. This…

Power - 2020

Year 2020, I am on holiday with friends and family.
We are having a family re-union and the music is powered by my (new invention) foil - covered satelite powered by solar energy.
The children are out there playing with the ball that generates energy.
The house will later at night be powered by energy generated from the energy dance floor.
The cell phones / computers are charged with the MFC - Microbialfuelcell.
All the power used are clean…

WATER HEATER

Having a warm bath especially in the evening is something soothing.
I think that in Africa, the use of solar energy should be explored since we have it in abundance.

My invention is simply warming water using Aluminium Bucket using direct sunlight. This will reduce the amount of electricity used to warm water with heaters.

I am experimenting on using foil covered satelite dish, using solar energy to power LED bulbs and also charge cell…

DINNER

In the next ten years, my dinner will be
1 A bowl of fried plantain.
2 A bowl of vegetable.
3 Some chunks of chicken.
All these products will be from my farm. Not alone though, dinner will be with my immediate family and at least a thousand children and women.

I LOVE PETS BUT WHAT'S IN A PET?

One of the ways in which we will fight food insecurity and help feed at least one person is in the change of our value system. Some selfishness has to go if we will make any significant progress.
If we reduce the number of pets, the amount of time we devote to them and channel such energies in helping humanity, the food issue will be solved. Think about this?
Some of us have 5 to 6 pets or more in our homes. We feed them and spend a lot of resources on them, and a HUMAN BEING,…

INNOVATIVE APPROACH

One of the numerous approach that is working in KWARA STATE of Nigeria, is "collaboration". This is between some Zimbabwean Farmers and the state government. These farmers are given land for animal husbandry ( cow production) and the produce which is milk, is packaged using good food processing applications and sold to the public. This has provided job opportunities and is equally tackling the issue of food insecurity. This is a pure case of knowledge share and transfer of… Continue

GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE AND FOOD SECURITY

Liepaja Solid Waste Management Project is a part of The Prototype Carbon Fund (PCF) established by World Bank in 1999 with contributions from interested governments and private companies. The idea is to create a market for trading carbon - dioxide emissions reductions between developed countries, on the one hand, and developing and transition countries on the other.… Continue

LEARN 1

A Social Innovator is that person that first of all sees or takes notice of a problem
2. decides and desires to see a positive change
3. thinks or generates ideas of how to solve the problem
4. goes ahead to execute the idea/ideas.

Simply put, a Social Innovator is a PROBLEM-SOLVER . We can train ourselves to be more sensitive to the plight of people. We all can and must DECIDE to be involved. We all are…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
