Me at the age of 100

When I am 100 years old, the only thing I would like to tell younger generations will be not to panic and hurry so much. And the most important thing: To trust in nature and the ecosystem on their planets! The hardest thing for me to learn in live was letting go. I hope I could teach the younger people a little bit about that very important "laissez-faire" attitude. It really is taking some time to grew something to eat, to raise a tree or to see the fauna grow and you can't quicken that in no… Continue

A group of psychologists

In 2011 my group of non-medical people to help others coping with their problems during a pandemic will be a group of psycholgists. Their abilities could be very helpful during a pandemic outbreak. It is not only necessary to get physical help but it is also important to get the psychological help needed. Especially while a deadly desease infects and kills all the people you know and love and panic will be amongst everyone. Psychologists could do there best to keep people calm and healthy in an… Continue

Worlds biggest mud-fight event

As I have been to the rock im park festival and know how urgent and bad it can be not to have the sanitary installations or even enough water to get clean, I would celebrate a two day long mud fight. I know that there will be much water needed to get the people that partizipate on that event clean from the dirt again. But even if the water wastage will be high, I think this event will be very funny and people will get curious about it and even a lot will take part. After my opinion it could… Continue

"How are you evoking today?"

“How are you evoking today?” That is the question I had so many times in my head while playing this game. And sometimes it was really hard to find an answer. There was a lot of positive experience I got while playing evoke, for example the feeling to do to something important for our earth. It was the believing to do the right thing and it was very good to know, and also a far-reaching incident for me, that there are so many people who are obviously doing and feeling the same thing. They all… Continue

risk = outrage + hazard

I really liked Peter Sandman's articles about risk communication. I have never thought about the correlation between outrage and hazard, that there can be so many people that are frightend but there even is no real danger and that there could also be the situation where there is real danger but no one really cares about.

The most fascinating thing for me is Sandman's suggestion how to deal with this knowledge and the different situations.

That you have to differ between the… Continue

Saving the knowledge about traditional healing

On kivu.com I found an article about women in Oaxaca, Mexico that got the possibility to share their knowledge about plants, herbs and especially their healing practices with the world. With help from organizations like UNICEF they were able to collaborate and start a health program. They also were accepted by the community and able to train other people through courses and workshops that were offered, so their knowledge will be shared with others and not get lost.

I think this is a… Continue

Energy from a health club

I think this is an idea a lot of people have had before, but I don't know why no one has realized it yet.

Every time I am to a health club and see the many people that are "wasting" their energy to get a better shape, I wonder why no one would take this energy and uses it to gain electricity for example.

When I think about the method how to do so I think about a little dynamo a lot of people have at their bikes. Maybe one could connect the bikes in the studio and treadmills to the… Continue

Ushahidi while an epidemic plague

Wondering what crisis my home town could affect in future, I will imagine the situation that an epidemic plague will break out.

I remember the time the bird flu broke out and even if it wasn't dangerous for human, everyone I knew was in panic. The really collected every dead bird they found, the emergency hot-line was overstrained and in radio and TV they had no other issue to discuss, but no one really knew something for sure. I think in case of a contagion it really can be useful to have… Continue

Rape in Congo

Actually I find it very hard to write a blog post about it.

I found the article: "Study on rape in DR Congo confirms 'gross' under-reporting " from the 12/5/2011 on the womenwatch site. It says that in Congo more than 1150 women are raped every day, which means 48 women every hour! :(

Please just read further if you have a strong stomach.

It reminds me to a doc**entation I have watched not long ago from Ross Kemp. He is a person that travels all around the world in to dangerous… Continue

No money for the taxi driver ;) and other examples

At first I have to admit, that it wasn't just me who tried to use a new currency, but also my best friend.

We often go to partys, drink a lot and normally when we are trying to get home it is so late, that there is no bus or metro driving anymore so we have to get home by taxi. But the last time my friend wanted to get home, he hadn't had any money anymore. The problem was that when he realized that fact, the taxidriver had already driven him home and to be honest he was reeeeally angry… Continue

Alternative currency

When I think about the future of money I am rather sure that we won't have any coined money in the future. I think that sometimes we will have just one currency all over the world and that worth of goods will be messured by some kind of numbers in the internet.

There are a lot of examples about online currencys. The ones I know best are the fictional currencys in games, where you can buy points with real money and then buy yourself skins or weapons for your character with these game points… Continue

Water 1st International in Ethiopia

To be honest I really couldn't decide what project, to give people access to clean water and sanitation, is my favourite. I read so much about different projects and every single one seemed very useful. What I liked most is that at most projects a lot of different sectors are meant to participate and work together. For example the government as well as the private sector, development organizations, ohter helping organizations and most important the central community, that is infected by the… Continue

Thermal Energy

Harald Böttner is a person that is doing research at an institute called "Fraunhofer Institut", the same I am working for to get the money for my studies. He is working in a department called thermoelectric systems on a project to get energy out of heat. The idea is quit simple and a lot of people had it before, but the problem is still to get a good degree of efficiency. The thermal conductibility has to be small but the electric one very big and that is physically nearly impossible. I found… Continue

Rock Festival in 2020

When I will go to a festival in 2020 there won't have been much changed. There will be good musicians playing their songs on a big stage with all the instruments we know quite right now. And also hundreds or quit thousands of people will go there watching them. But there also will be something different. Round the festival area will be lots of solar panel to get the energy needed to play and amplify all the instrument the wh*** time. The lights that will be needed at night get their energy… Continue

Dinner in 2020

I find it hard to imagine how much the world would have been changed till 2020. But actually I don't think it will have changed that much. When I look in 2020 I see myself sitting at a table together with my two kids and my husband, eating some potatoes, fish and vegetables and drinking water. I will have bought all this in a store near us, where they got it from local farmers, without too much fertilizer and stuff like this, so I can be sure to give my family something nutritious and healthy… Continue

Sunflower Guerilla

I don't have my own garden, but I will participate in an event called the "Guerilla Sunflower Days". It's also on facebook, here is the link: http://www.facebook.com/SunflowerGuerillaDays. It's one day in the year on which all people on earth are called to go into a shop, buy some sunflower seeds or every seeds you like, search an ugly location in their city and drop the seeds into the ground! I know that this is not exactly the same… Continue

"Die Tafel" as example of a non-profit organisation for food security

In the community where I live there aren't so much people that go hungry every day! I come from a wealthy country with a good social structure, where there is a minimum income granted for everyone. By the way this could also be a good example for the basic thing needed to provide food for everyone. But also here there are very poor people. For the poorest there exists an non-profit orginastion called "Die Tafel" - http://www.tafel.de/, which could be… Continue

earnings as a stimulation for entrepreneurship

I once read an article about a german couple that started a project in a bigger village somewhere in africa. They counted the inhabitants and gave everyone of them one dollar per month. Within this project they wanted to prove that even with the lowest amount of help you could improve the life of a lot of people. And they also wanted to convince people that their prejudices about poor people beeing agressive and stupid and just buying themselves alcohol when you give them money are wrong. The… Continue

Dream of 2020

When Alchemy calls me in 2020 I will be at home with my family and my kids. After we had some fish, vegetables and bread as dinner from local fields and just as much as we need to eat, the kids will go happily to bed. Then I will be working in my office on a new project to aid communication between people to discover and deliefer new renewable energy from all over the world. Right at the momtent when I will need a break from thinking about new ideas, I would get a call from Alchemy asking me to… Continue

Children as role model

I think what would help me most to be a good innovator and help other people to find a solution for their problems is to think like a child. It's not only important that children have no bondaries to their thinking, it's also the fact that kids are curious about everything. They are openminded to everything that surrounds them and creative in the way they find solutions to problems that occur. Mostly kids don't think about consequences of their acting, so thats why they don't have fear and stop… Continue

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Foods are vacc** sealded for easy…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
