Alternate Energy Innovations

Here's a brainstormed listed of definite potential sources of energy:

Tires that generate energy through kinetic energy. Dozens of Watts of energy are generated just from the friction between a car tire and a road per second of contact, that's energy wasted that could be converted for use to power the car alone.…

FIFA 2020

It's FIFA World Cup 2020 and the US is actually in the semis. And of course we're celebrating.

What's neat are the wallpapers in the bars that absorb body heat and noise and convert it into viable energy. Or my clothes which are made of polarized fabric and flexible solar cell material to constantly power my own electronic equipment. And the cars which run off similar designs compounded with tires that asbsorb, convert, and conserve the energy of friction. The soccer ball and…

Solar Cells That Work At Night

Humanity can surprise you. The innovation, the imagination, the creativity, the capability, and the potential- endless, literally. It makes tragedy much more tragic in a way... BUT Jessica Lin and the Harvard students engineering a soccer ball to convert mechanical and kinetic energy into useable fuel! Or PopTech Fellows Lebrone Solutions using dirty microbes as a source for power! Or a material that harnesses radiation such as infrafred light using solar cell fabrics that can act as a power…

Kabob in 2020

I am at home, comfortable, assured, enjoying a kabob, imported warm straight from Cairo even though I'm sitting in an isolated cabin by a lake. The modified organic food, the packaging, dehydration processes, etc.. allows microwaveable meals of any and all dishes with longevity in storage and added nutrients. The ingredients are fresh from Cairo, spices, meat, veggies, everything, making us more interconnected then ever.

Food Crisis Innovation

As an addendum to our food community pantry programs in the Nortern Va area I think it would be neat to have an additional program where volunteers can adapt individuals or families and cook or provide meals for them weekly or monthly. It would be excellent just because it would allow for people to mingle directly and provide advice while bonding and becoming personal. Often when bonds are formed the act of giving becomes much more real.

I think local initiatives should also…

Food Crisis

I have spent over 100 hours working volunteer service at a nearby community food pantry in the Northern VA area just outside of DC. Through the pantry we provide basic groceries to families in need on a weekly and monthly basis. Many of these families are unemployed, low income and to be able to have basic food necessities provided to them at least one a month is especially helpful.

But one of the issues I have noticed is misplacement of priorities. We have a lot of folks who…

Honing Writing Skills

So here's some tips on how to amp up a skill that's pretty basic in all four corners of the world- writing. I think it's important to know how to twist words and play scrabble, to express and challenge, because great ideas always bleed through paper.

-Cultivate voice. Plastic is transparent. Be you in words.

-Blend discipline with spontaneity. Don't make writing too much of a routine, required task. Write a few minutes a day but don't write for hours unless…

IMAGINE- Social Innovation Think Tank

I've been stove-piping ideas, many from the collaboration thread, on how to best allow us all to cooperate, coordinate, fuse thoughts, etc.. to really get out and do. I think I'm going to start chalking out an NPO that does just that, social innovation think tanking as discussed below but also work on creating a website with a forum and resources we can use to start brainstorming ideas and finding…

2020 Scenario

I hope to be running my own non-profit organization abroad, working to truly address localized needs, attract attention to undermanaged issues, and most importantly by helping others. I hope that by 2020 I will also be in a position to influence others to be a part of the change and to encourage the international community to help the less fortunate.

Social Innovator Hero

I am choosing to shadow Jason Shah's 'I Need A Pencil' Program. It's such an awesome and needed program right here at home, no profit or personal interest is involved, and its outperformed costly tutor-based programs. I am interested in following Shah, reading up on his story, and using what he's done as a template and prompt for my ideas.

Social Innovation

Don’t fight culture (If people cook by stirring their stews, they’re not going to use a solar oven, no matter what you do to market it. Make them a better stove instead.) AND Innovate on existing platforms (We’ve got bicycles and mobile phones in Africa, plus lots of metal to weld. Innovate using that stuff, rather than bringing in completely new tech.)

In terms of actual application I found this to be a helpful standard. I know in Afghanistan one of the issues we were having…

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Foods are vacc** sealded for easy…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
