Solar updraft tower- Use warm air to generate electricity!

During my investigations about alternative ways of generating electricity I found a power station that was totally new for me. I´ve never heard before something about a solar updraft tower which was invented by Prof Jörg Schlaich at the University of Stuttgart. It uses the ability that warm air soar up to produce energy.

The construction is pretty simple but scarcely less brilliant.

What will I eat in 10 years ?

What will I eat in 10 years? A good question, and hard to answer, but when I remember what I was eating 10 years ago....- Honestly I have to say: Nearly the same than nowadays. But perhaps this will change during the next 10 years. It could be like that:

Reponsibility

I´m from Germany and fortunatly there are no real food security problems. This is caused by favourable geographic conditions, which avoid extrem climatic situations like droughts, and the fact that Germany, because of its economic relations and infrastructure, is able to import food from all over the world.

A german problem considering food is the general dealing with food. Due to have plenty of food most of the people lost the ability to appreciate it.

Why just one hero, when I can have a complete website of it ?

In my opinion there are so many people in the world, which are great social innovaters and it is hard to just pick one of them as your personal hero. While I was searching for interesting projects and their initiators I found Till Behnke, who is one of the founders of www.betterplace.org, a website that spotlights different social projects all over the world. It´s a sunny day . . .

. . . 24 degree. I´m standing on one of the numerous hills between Almeria and Malaga. Ten years after I visited Andalusia and especially the XXVI Expo Agro-Almeria, a business fair about agriculture and innovation in the mediterranean area, I come back to see how these projects will have developed into reality.

The region changed a lot during the last 10 year. Nearly as much as in the 15 years before, when the area had become a huge greenhouse.
