Let me preface this by saying, "Please don't write me to tell me how awesome my picture is. I already know it rocks." Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how much land/resources would be needed for a person to consume the recommended daily amount of nutrients suggested by the USDA's Food Pyramid. (http://www.mypyramid.gov) For example, if a person should consume 200lbs of wheat, 75lbs of fruit, and 120lbs of meat products each year, then how many acres of land would be needed to grow the wheat and fruit bearing trees, how many chickens/cows/fish would have to be…

The average vegetable travels over 3,000 miles before you eat it! By then it may have lost as much as 70% of its nutrients!*** What better way to prevent this from happening (and help the environment) than to grow some of what you eat? Even one meal a week made from your own garden, or purchased from a local farmer's market can have a positive impact on the environment and your local community!
Why not grow out to eat?…

Finding an outstanding example of malnurishment and hunger here in the U.S. can be a difficult task indeed. The only people here who are starving are people who choose to.
