Introducing 'Agent Bez'

Once again a comment that got out of hand, which deserves its own spot as a blog, so an introduction to me, and how i came to evoke (a brief one, I hope)

Bez ? who's that .. ? that's one of my many names - Online I am usually known as Quazimodo, Quaz(y) etc... and have been for so long now that they are also my names, similarly the 'nicknames' Berry/Bez have been used so long they are also my names.. :S My Parents call me Rich or Richard.. so its up to you i guess..

Ushahidi - The power of information

Ushahidi is an awsome example of how poeple are able to empower themselves making use of the new information technology, once they are aware of it and have access to it. I'll label this in the Empowering Women section for now, since Ushahidi was originally set up by a woman in a war torn region, seeking to distribute information.

If unaware of it by now, Ushahidi means 'witness' in Swahili.

The symphony of science

I feel this is definitely worth an evoke Blog, since it contains so many of my Heroes and is pretty innovative as a means to communicate ideas and allow collaberation between people who quite possibly never met.

Strive for Balance (Equilibirum) not Equality (=)

Hi, this is something i think about often and it sort of blurted out whilst commenting on someone elses Profile .. so copied from there:

Equality is over emphasised in the modern world, and is a pretty artificial concept. the symbol '=' is rarely found easily in nature, its balance we should be striving for. A good place, imo to find this balance is in brain size, it controversial I know but bare with me, there is a point to this. Its a fact that women actually have shorter generations… Continue

My perspective on food Security in the Uk

Here's a website run by some local Lads who are big on the allotment scene here in Bristol, the idea being that if you can't be totally self-sufficient in a city, you could try to be selfsufficient-ish www.selfsufficientish.com

In the Uk we dont have too many people starving through lack of food, our biggest problems are quality of diet (particularly amongst the poorer members of society) and a reliance on (mainly African)…

My social Innovator of the moment

I have many heroes when it comes to social innovators. I'll pick Nicholas Negroponte and his 'One Laptop per Child' scheme for now since his grand visions are fairly inspiring and it seems to be the most apt to this discussion. For a more in depth look at what he has been up to follow this link:…

The most important thing to remember about innovation

I'm going to cheat a little bit and pick two preferred points , since I feel there is a synergy between them. The most important thing (s) to remember about innovation, or as I prefer to call it 'Emergence':

  1. Understand by observing the environment, infrastructure, culture and lives of people by being there.
  2. Share knowledge and skills to continue the innovative process both to and from people and communities.

When it…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
