2020 and Acorns for dinner!

Its 2010 and Acorns are on the menu.

Ten years ago no one ate acorns. They just fell to the ground and animals ate some of them but many of them rotted.

Now we all go for walks in the woods on beautiful fall days and collect the acorns.

Ten years ago everyone thought grinding and leaching the acorns was too much work! But a student group from Olin, following the example of Amy Smith created simple…

Education Guild

Agents are starting to talk about Guilds. Anyone want to start an Education Guild? I've seen a number of people interested in how to bring more education more affordably to more places!

I am interested in education with computers and especially using Open Source code and open content for scalability.

I am also interested in education for the 20% of students that are hardest to educate. The blind, deaf, physically or mentally disabled as well as…

Portable USB Based computing for the blind

I recently found another hero: FERNANDO BOTELHO through this link: http://edutechdebate.org/assistive-technology/we-need-an-assistive-technology-strategy/

His project, like mine, puts an entire bootable system on a USB stick, but instead of being for children its for visually impared people. It also relies on open source software and provides a full system all set up for…

Software to help autistic children read

I ran accross a comment by another agent that he had a child with autism.

I am taking a class in Inclusive Education and I'm also looking to understand what software I can include on Sugar on a Stick that will help children with Autism.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Game1: Vision

Vision - Seeing the pieces around you and how they could be put together. Holding a positive vision even in the face of setbacks.

Vision lets you keep going even when progress seems like mola****. It is what lets you communicate to others how their goals work together with yours and fit into the vision.

Vision is a picture of hope it gives it direction.

Without vision you can't…

2020 On vacation in Africa

In 2020 I will be visiting my son in Africa where he is working on his social enterprise. While I'm there I will attend a conference on Educational Technology and I will visit a couple of schools using USB based computing and get feedback and exchange ideas with the teachers there.

I'll also have time to go on Safari and see the animals in the well presevered parks.

Learn1: How do Ethan's principals apply to my project: Sugar on a Stick

1. Innovation Comes from Constraint. There are schools in Boston that have one laptop (a macbook) for each student, but they still can't take them home. Its too dangerous for them and for the laptop. Innovation - Use a cheap USB stick and back it up so its no big deal if its lost.

2. Don't fight culture - Working on that one this week! Looks like with the help of the Heros at LinuxLiveUSB we will be able to have the sticks work an windows machine without rebooting! Now we…

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
