EVOKE to keep 50% of the profits

This part of the comic has interested me:

EVOKE is unofficial. EVOKE has resources - even a satellite.

EVOKE does things 'off the books'. EVOKE keep a 50% share in the profits.

So basically,…

Waiting for week 2

I am waiting for week 2. I didnt achieve as much as I wanted from week 1. I wanted to get to the top of the leaderboard .(I am #5). Not because I really am an attention-whore, but because I would be interested in how that would change my ARG experience. I wonder if for instance the top on the leader board gets a lot more calls for collaboration than others. I am also interested in how those collaboration ideas could be spread.

I am interested in that also because I am…

Meet Kenny - heroine addicted in Oslo

My first Saturday Challenge was to go to my city at night and talk with a homeless person or a drug addict who is scrambling for money for his next shot.

I have to admit that I feel hesitant about posting this video here. In no way is my goal to sensationalize this. "Look! A drug addict!" The issue here is his life, and how there are lots of people like him around Norway and the…

Augmenting human intellect

Have you ever heard of Doug Engelbart?

No?

If you haven't, did you know that you are daily using one of the tools he invented?

Did you also know that the mouse, the tool he invented and first showed at a famous demo in 1968, was part of a wider quest to "augment human…

This isn't a game!

So, I noticed the first response a la "People are dying from hunger in the world, and you dare to call this a game?!" to EVOKE.

I made a comment to the response with a link to Jane McGonical's paper on Engagement Economy.

Ok, all of this becomes quite meta, but you will…

Hey! Look at me!

"Hey! Look at me!" is the subject-line of several messages sent around the EVOKE network. Actually, what they Do write is "I made a blog post! Check it out please" or "I find X issue important, and I wrote about it". I have also myself been guilty of this kind of attention-grabbing behaviour.

Why? Well, partly, because the way the system works is that you get points for getting people to vote for Your idea, Your blog post, video or photo.

There…

My first EVOKE weekend

This weekend has been pretty strange for me. Normally, I relax a lot during the weekend, go to museums, spend time with the gf, watch movies, read at cafes, etc.

This weekend I spent most of Saturday indoors, at home, chatting with other EVOKERS about EVOKE, and then at night decided to go out, and spend the wh*** night in central Oslo, interviewing drug addicts who are also out in the cold. I did that, and I now have some video footage that I am working on editing and…

Saturday Challenge - Week 1

Will challenge myself today, now, this Saturday night.

Armed with an old videocamera (to prove you don't need a HD camera), I will go to central Oslo, on this Saturday night, and talk with people. Start conversations with total strangers, about some of the topics here.

I will spend the night out, in Oslo, and not go back home before tomorrow morning. I will Definitely…

Videoblogging anno 2005

I figured out about videoblogging in December 2004. I belong not quite to the first wave of videobloggers, but almost. Weeks after I figured out about the ability to share videos online for the wh*** world to see, I flew to NYC in January 2005 to attend the world's first videoblogging conference, VloggerCon. VloggerCon was amazing - you… Continue

How to get ahead in EVOKE

This is the very first version of a guide that we in AWAKE will create during the next days. Consider this blog entry simply 'working notes'. Don't worry, the final result will not be so wordy.

1) Introduction

EVOKE's first guild

I have thought about starting an EVOKE guild ever since I found out about the site and registered.

What good is an immersive social game without guilds?

So, I would like to call out to other EVOKE agents: Are you interested in joining our guild?

Just like in other games, there are differences between guilds on EVOKE. Actually, I haven't heard of other guilds yet, so I suppose (for now) that this is the first…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Foods are vacc** sealded for easy…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
