LEARN7 Small Island ~ Big Emergency
This small island where I live is vulnerable to disaster, not only do we get some nasty winter storms knocking out power for days, with all the trees and forested areas here a forest fire in the dry season could quickly get out of hand.

I volunteer as a member of the Board of Directors for Bridges for Women, a gutsty little non-profit that for more than 20 years has trained women who have been abused with life-skills, financial and employability skills. Our Quadra Island Community Market is starting up May 3. I've always supported buying local and keeping my money on the island and this season I will challange myself to go to our market every week to grocery shop and support the Community Gardeners. Fourth of July on the Lake
This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal.
