A crash course in changing the world.
Scouring the globe for information on food insecurity, I came across 14-year-old John Beck, American student at an international school in Rome. John recently recieved the the grand prize for the Under-18 category of WFPs “hunger bytes!” contest.
John’s video, titled "Dinner is Served" is a call for action against hunger and challenges people to rethink the concept of a full meal. Please watch the video - proof that age doesn’t matter when it comes to making a difference. John Becks, school raised 6,000 Euros - enough to provide 30,000 hungry children with a school meal. This was the 2nd highest donation to “Students Helping Haiti,” second only to Alabama's Auburn University, a university with an enrolment of about 24,000 students.
In accepting his award, John said "Every hungry child is our responsibility". John Beck is my hero of the moment.
