2011.02.22 News of the flu outbreak is not encouraging. More and more people are being infected. Something must be done. I call on the teachers network. Since school have been cancelled, none of us have been working for a week. We all have active websites that our students are accessing from home. I call upon the teachers to take the online training so that they may be up-to-date and start informing their students, who can then inform their families, about the steps they need to take: 1) to avoid becoming infected; 2) to recognize signs of infection; 3) once they recognize a family member has been infected. Information about medical clinics and other community resources can easily be communicated this way. This approach has unique benefits. It spreads information into the heart of our families. It utilizes a willing resource - teachers want to help. It allows our students to play a vital role in this crisis.
