In the 2020, I've mastered the art of "promiscuous triading" a term coined by John King to indicate a mode of behavior in which a person is always working to connect other people together who share similar goals in order to boost their potential to accomplish great things.
I am imagining myself as a leader in a liberal arts college that has a deep network of alumni and students whose lives have been transformed by their experience in a community that values clear thinking, hospitality and globally-aware service. In 2020, I've been working for a decade championing those values, teaching students how to work together and how to continue to create a network of ever expanding triads that empower our them to accomplish great things.
When the call comes, I start making calls myself...mobilizing the creativity of thousands of people who exist in exponentially expanding relationships that are empowered to solve problems and committed to making the world better by serving others. My former students know people all over the world. They make calls of their own and an empowered network critical thinkers and problem solvers comes online.
Imagine a buckyball made of triangles, each vertex an individual and imagine that buckyball as a solid filled with inter-connected triangles. That's our network, when the call goes out, one of those vertices lights up and transmits the need to along the lines that connect it to the vertices that surround it. They light up and send the messsage and their ideas along the lines. BAM! the bucky-ball grid powers up to assist the citizens of Tokyo in meeting the challenges that face them in their time of need.
