I will be settling in around a table in a small, rural village. I am in China, and my most recent project, Securing Food Supplies for Rural and Remote Populations, is well under way. This is the first iteration of the project, and my team and I are celebrating our success with a few Chinese farmers that we have come to be very close to in recent months. The food that we are eating was harvested from a special tract of land that we have aided in constructing for the village. Our team provided the knowledge and materials for construction and the farmers provided the larbor. Now, every season, the farmers can harvest food from their own tracts and replant with harvested seeds, and they never have to eat what they grow for selling at their local markets. This allows for greater specialization. For instance, if the futures market shows favortism for wheat in the coming season, the farmers can grow wheat in the fields but have any viable crop growing on their private tract.
