Over my hectic schedule, I've been on and off with the evoke. I guess it's coming to an end soon and I would have to learn lots of things really quick in order to finish them before Evoke's deadline.
I've been looking at my past posts and I noticed I was only looking at the problems. And reading
Riaz Haq's blog posts had me inspired to start positive actions driven for solutions. Here are some electricity solutions I have found.
This is a learn mission, so I was all open ears.
- Building a trash burning power plant. 29 power plants in Denmark burn wastes and make electricity. The cities are cleaner and brighter than ever. How cool is that? My city, Ulaanbaatar, definitely has a potential for this (trash much?). I'll just let people keep the possibility in mind; the more Mongolians read about this, the sooner they'll build one.
- Installing Solar Home Systems. I've noticed that the government would support promising social entrepreneurship projects, as seen in Grameen Shakti's success in Bangladesh. He installed Solar Home Systems. Here's what I found after curiously googling the Solar Home Systems. It also looks like the World Bank funded a replication of this project in Indonesia.
- Buying solar cookers from a local market. Last night on TV I saw this Mongolian man attending a Small and Medium Enterprise exhibition. He had a solar cooker as a showcase, and talked about how he first burnt his laboratory once and developed this solar cooker in the last 12 years. Their cooker was name "Narnii Och" or "Solar Spark".
- Installing wind turbines. This came to my mind in the first place really. I had watched some videos on Youtube about making Wind turbines from a scratch (so to speak).
So far, I have these.
Hmm... Now on to making some.
