A crash course in changing the world.
Do the hard work needed to find a simple solution. As Leonardo da Vinci said, “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”—and it is the key to this type of design work.
This is quite important because many people in Africa who earn $1 to $2 a day cannot afford "the fruits of life". This begs the question how can I make my innovation simple enough so that people in poverty can afford it. Da Vinci got it right,"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication." You must strip your innovation of 90% of its materials, making it affordable and better in the sense that it is more simple to use. But this makes your innovation have a certain budget, making twice as difficult to innovate something.
