I touch the screen where it says 'new message from alchemy'.
damn. the toky food crisis is escalating... thats not a surpise, it was just a question of time. the tokyo food crisis... tfc... i think of the other tfc program i implemented. Trash for Cash was a moderate success in the developed world, but it really hit off in africa, to prove that recycling can help build communities make use of scarce resources.
good thing that was never tried in japan. all they have now is trash... anyone would be happy to trade in garbage for some money, but since there is no food, what is that cash going to buy you?
why cant my cash buy myself a free saturday for a change?
i continue reading, and it figures - alchemy wants me to rethink the food supply chain. no wonder, since the experimental seaweed farms got raided last month, there is even less food, because the pirates who took control can not use the farms full potential and have no interest in sharing.
I take another sip of my coffee and step out on the patio, embracing the morning sun. plane leaves at four in the afternoon. my wife is not going to be pleased, but maybe i can convince her to come with me - her work on those 'unbreakable chopsticks' and their distribution helped the woods in china recover for the last 2 years, and she definitely has some ideas for tokyo. i see some windsurfers on the beach, from this distance they look more like ants against the backdrop of the reddish rocks.
still, she is not going to be exited to trade the mediterranean beach house against a crampy 12 sqm appartment without any way to cook like she likes it.
speaking of cook, i have to remember to buy some rice to take with me or to bribe officials with. and what is the weather like in tokyo anyway? are they still using those anti-fumes masks? alchemy better be paying for the flight, though.
i press a button on the coffee maker and watch another cup fill up, take the cup and carry it upstairs to our bedroom.
good morning sweetheart, time to wake up, we have work to do.
