A crash course in changing the world.
I learned at school that during times of inflation, in the 1930s, trade with goods was more popular, and that cigarettes as a currency were accepted. Some things change.
Others not.
Here we go. Yesterday a freind of mine celebrated birthday and we went to a club after dinner. It was usually crowded, a lot of people around and after a while guy came to me asking if I can help him.
We had a chat. He was an american and he did not have enough Euros for another beer and the bar tender did not want his dollars. He asked me if I like to take his dollars, and fetch him a beer.
I was not in mood for dollar transactions, so I proposed him something different: He smoked the same brand of cigarettes as a friend of mine. So a dozen of them for beer would be fine.
He looked a little bit puzzled, as I am a non-smoker but he accepted the deal. Later I could trade the cigarttes for a drink.
I think it was fair.
