A crash course in changing the world.
If a pandemic flu would reach Nuremberg and I would have been asked to organize a group of people who can help, I would create an online platform for the communication between voluntary helpers and people who are in need of them.
If a pandemic flu begins to spread over a community or a country it is important try to keep the number of new infections to a minimum. But there is one problem: Infected people still need to leave their homes in order to get food, medicine and other important things. Especially in the beginning of the disease, people often feel strong enough to do all these things by themselves. But they forget that the flu will be spread more and more by this behaviour.
The idea of my communication platform is that people who are infected can contact volunteers who are healthy and willing to care for the patients. Voluntary civilians can find people near by who need their help. They can for example buy food and medicine for the infected people. If the kids of an infected person are still healthy, the volunteers can take care of them until the parents aren’t virulent anymore. These actions prevent further people from getting infected and can help to confine the flu.
It is very important that the internet platform provides concrete information for the volunteers about how they avoid to get themselves infected. Since the group of people I ask to help are just normal civilians without any deeper knowledge about diseases, it is very important that – before they take action – they get enough knowledge about how to behave and about how to protect themselves. This is the base the success of this idea.
