Tonight is March 10, 2020. Regardless of the fact that I am in the
starving country, tacos will be served tonight. After gathering my team
of 20 today in town I brought them all to my temporary home, with their
children, brothers, and sisters all included. Before making the journey I
was sure to run to the store. I plan to live here like everyone else,
off of the resources but for this first day, this first meeting we will
feast. I brought with me 10 bags of fresh rice, 5 packages of tortillas,
and just enough seasoning. From the town today I bought quite a lot of
beef. I spent almost half of my day gathering people, and the second
half making tacos for everything. Tonight we had a banquet of tacos, and
rice. More food than most of these people have had in their wh*** life.
The tacos were just the perfect amount of spicy, with the sweet rice to
calm your tongue from the burning flavors. Delicious is the only word
to describe this experience. The people ate like they have never eaten
in their entire lives, and then they began to cry. When I asked them
what was wrong, they merely said, "We worry of the time when we will
feast again." I told them it will be everyday like this after we are
done, and that we will solve their hunger, so they will never hunger
again. The light in their eyes, and the gentle trusting smile is why I
do this. I will never forget that look, as I promised them hope,
something they have never had before.
