My local hero is Mark Tovey, the person from whom I first found out about Evoke. He's one of the main people updating my favorite website and homepage: worldchanging.ca , the Canadian arm of quite a large international / web based environmental blog and innovation site: worldchanging.com.
Mark's comments are always well considered, accessible to any reader and well researched. Once or twice I spoke with him in person, and we always found our way through some very insightful conversations. Currently he's working on developing a platform where people already engaged through non-profits or other organizations can come together to consider the biggest problems facing humanity by tasks defined in the Encyclopedia of Environmental Issues.
I'm not an expert on this field, but Mark seems to think that if similar organizations can come together and work on an environmental or social problem facing the planet's population, efficiency will greatly be improved. I think this stems from a desire to shed any bureaucratic and redundant energy being needlessly spent by similar non-profit or social organizations.
I'm currently following updates on worldchanging.ca daily and commenting on them actively when I have something to add to the thread.
