Four evoke agents got together to brainstorm what we could do to learn more about food security and develop a plan to act locally. After preliminary discussions we realized that we wanted to learn by doing and decided to develop a small ("four-door") garden and test urban farming techniques, such as those found in
this article. These techniques are specifically designed for getting maximum yield out of small garden areas.
Since two of us own a small plot of land we can begin immediately to prepare the soil while we learn more about how to proceed. We are hoping to be able to raise enough vegetables to supply the four of us for some period of time.
Obviously, a big part of this project for us is to carefully doc**ent what we do and what results we get. Carefully monitoring the impacts of nature (the weather, insects, "critters", etc.) will help us understand much more about how this type of gardening can be used to help address the food security problem around the world.
