I note from the video by "Water for People" that their cause is funded by the Case Foundation. I have been following Steve Case for a while now on twitter and registering interest on the Case Foundation Website.
I guess he and his wife are doing a great job supporting worthy causes all around the world.
I do have a sense of frustration dealing with Philanthropic organisations when attempting to offer help. I have done so via the web forms so many of them offer as their point of contact.
Invariably there is no reply. Unless you are giving them money most just don't want to know. They have their own agenda and coming from a business environment where they have had the power to have their own way. They tend to dismiss help in the form of ideas, time or systems.
Just an observation. I will continue to follow philanthropic organisations and may donate from time to time if there is something specific I think they are doing well at. I will always temper any enthusiasm with a personal knowledge of how they do business.
I now tend to put my charitable dollars to work with organisations such as Oxfam where you can select a water access project and use your donation as a birthday or wedding present.
