Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

While working on my LEARN2 mission, I would share something EVOKE made me think since a couple of days, and the big chance I'm mumbling on.

I don't know if everybody is aware that a few months ago (November the 20th, 2009) WIRED IT has proposed Internet as a candidate to the Nobel Peace Prize. This outstanding initiative was also supported, since the beginning, by WIRED UK and WIRED US editors, and Shirin Ebadi.
I published a post about it on my ITgG blog, where you can find further informations and links, both in English and in Italian.
In a few days, 4000 people signed up to support this initiative, and the number of "ambassadors" and promoters for the initiative grew up.

On February the first, WIRED IT proposal was accepted and now Internet is officially running for the prize.

I think this is awesome. Of course there has been a great debate around the contradictions of the Internet, and it's still going on. Personally I have many reserves as well: censorship, digital crimes, cracking, illegal forms of feticism or fanatism are sadly diffused on the internet. Anyway, I think that I4P conveys an important message.
As Umberto Veronesi said about it: "if the Web wins the Nobel Prize, we'd show to the future generations two things: first, that we did understand the significance of the global revolution produced by the Net; second, that we were determined to address it to the better use for Humanity".

I do believe that EVOKE could become another important tessera in the mosaic, strengthening the initiative, and giving it new reasons to be. Then, I would EVOKE the entire community by proposing a mission in two steps: the first one to add EVOKE's voice to the I4P choir, the second one to show that EVOKE actually makes real what I4P is pretending to demonstrate.

For the first step:
  • have a look at the website, google Internet for Peace, or search for #I4P on twitter if you want further informations
  • sign up at the I4P page
  • as soon as you signed up, write a blog post, or upload an image with the screenshot of your name on I4P's supporters page or map, and tag it ACTX and I4P
  • comment this post or message me, to let me know you're in the EVOKE I4P group; I'll read your post and award your mission (ok, its just 1 point, but it's all I can do and the mission itself worth it, anyway; isn't it?)

For the second step:
  • find a creative way to make EVOKE helping peace, really, and propose it to the network; when searching for an idea, consider that peace comes from a series of positive conditions, which in many cases are the same for which you are called, as EVOKE agents. If sustainable and renewable resources were available anywhere, there wouldn't be wars for oil; if the primary goods were eaqually distributed, there wouldn't be war for water, food, land...
  • after thinking of it, propose a collective project, something that must necessarily be done by a group of people. Explain your idea and tag it ACTX and I4P
  • again, comment this post or message me to let me know you're in the EVOKE I4P group; if yours is a feasible idea I'll be happy to join your project, I'll award you with my just-1-point and I guess Alchemy won't be impassible (are you there Alchemy? Can you confirm?)

End of 2009, A & E did a Biography of the Millennium :

"Top 100 Influential Minds of the Last 1000 Years."

http://www.economicexpert.com/a/A:E:s:Biography:of:the:Millennium.htm

Johann Gutenberg, inventor of the printing press was #1

Why?

Because the influential works of Einstein, Newton, Edison, Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Jr, Da Vinci were made all the more influential because it became available to the ma**** when it became printed in book form.

The Internet is the modern day Johann Gutenberg.

In the year 2999, when A&E does their Top 100 List again,

The Internet will be listed as #1.

Crucial post Stefano! Great job! Share it on my Twitter!

How ironic, I found your blog when I searched "evoking for peace" on the internet!!!! I can think of no more important effort. . . all others fall short if we are not evoking for peace.

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
