So, I've wondered for a while... what the net environmental value of an Aerogarden is? They would appear to make hydroponics 'easy' and there are ways to use your own nutrients and seeds rather than being tied to the company.
But I figure the electricity for the cycling pump and lights (which are kind of a necessity in the Arctic if you want to grow something in Winter)... well - unless the electricity is green - I figure that Aerogarden's probably have a real negative impact even if you are using it to EAT REALLY LOCAL...
Anyone familiar with actual analysis on this?
