Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

(Citizen X logo)

Sooner or later, every EVOKE agent will have to deal with the Citizen X network. So, in this post, I will try to explain why you must approach them with caution and how you can successfully use them to improve your action.

What is Citizen X

Some of you may only know Citizen X by the words of Alchemy himself : "An irresponsible and dangerous organization."
It sure tells a lot about how much Alchemy likes them but that doesn't explain much of really WHO they are.

Citizen X is much more of a network than an organization. There sure are leaders but their power lies in their number and the spreading of their members... just like us.

Yes, let's say it once and for all : they look a lot like EVOKE. A large network of hidden agents.

But "looking like" doesn't mean "being like", they differ in their goal as well as in their method.

The goal of Citizen X

Every Citizen X transmission as it written on : "We reveal"

And, really, that's what they're doing. Using spies, hackers, anarchist, utopist, EVOKE ex-agents, corrupted politicians and who knows else, the Citizen X organization collects and shares just about every piece of data they can find.
If something is hidden, you can be sure that Citizen X will work to unveil it.

Think of it as a worldwide and much more powerful version of Wikileaks.

You may already understand why Alchemy doesn't really like them : Their way to obtain information are more than often illegal and even more often unethical.

The danger of Citizen X

But however they unveil data, the real danger is not there. The main problem lies in the data themselves.

Sometime, transmitting them to the wh*** world doesn't really help. Remember the diplomatic fiasco of last year, when a marital affair appeared because of a leaked personnal phone recording, rendering useless the wh*** negociations. We all know how much truth can hurt.

But, worse, sometime the data aren't even correct. And THAT is really dangerous, because Citizen X never take the time to verify their informations. Everything can be just plain fake.

How EVOKE agents should deal with Citizen X

Because of that probability of falsehood, EVOKE agents must learn to never rely only on Citizen X. Whatever this organization transmit must be evaluated using as much other sources as one can.

Sure, Citizen X sounds cool and can bring really nice piece of usefull data. But never forget how this data get there and how many time it could have been falsified on purpose to lure you into the wrong way.

Internet is vast, fake and real data are mixed there. So, always check and verify anything you come accross, however "juicy" it is. (By the way, this apply not only to Citizen X transmission but to just about every data you find.)

Citizen X are not really bad guys (well... some of them are) but you should NEVER trust them.

This is the first time I have evern heard of Citizen X - where has Alchemy mentioned the org.?

Very Intriguing! And yes, you should never trust one source alone. Be that an organization like the World Bank, or NGOs like Greenpeace

You can see the name of this org when Alchemy calls Ember to help him in the Tokyo crisis.

The problem is not that information is shared. Malicious use of information and the avoidance of people to address the issues are the problem. The obsession with privacy only protect those who are not doing the correct thing and encourages such behavior. This helps your "Citizen X's more than everyone else because it gives them places to hide. If every query could be traced to the individual that made it instead of hidden, most Citizen Xs would become Ex Citizen Xs.

Is that a Citizen X agent taking a photo at the end of the episode 2 comic?

@Bryan: It would seem so, yes. Notice the logo:

Got it. So is Agent X a global counternetwork to Evoke, our shadow?
Comment by Cian Gregory Accuardi Shelley on March 16, 2010 at 4:55am
it's like the destructive twin of evoke. evoke is constructive, C X is destructive: think of flamebloggers and finger pointers. where evoke prefers anonymity and uses the resources it has, citizen x want attention, and information; all of it

Have we seen anything that would amount to a Citizen X manifesto?
Are they just interested in gossip, or do they actually have a philosophy for themselves?
And other than "too much information is confusing and causes panic," do we have a philosophy in opposition to their transparency?

So transparency is a bad thing?

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
