Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

Fabio Rosa is a man from Brazil who had one main goal since he came there in the 1980s: provide electricity for the people who live in rural areas. To me he's not only a social entrepreneur, but he is also a POWER PLAYER, preferably one with big goals. Ever since Rosa moved to Brazil he had wanted to provide electricity for the countries. One of his big projects was actually his first, he helped the people in the countryside outside of a town in BRazil called Palmeras- bringing hundreds of families electric powered pumps, refrigerators and lights for the first time in their lives. Rosa spread his idea to thousands of families, and eventually to more than half a million Brazilians. But in the late 1990s, the electricity industry in Brazil was privatized and the new owners weren't interested in pursuing his model because the profit margins in the countryside were too low. So Rosa came up with a new plan to rent solar power equipment to villagers who live in the most remote areas of Brazil.

Rosa even today is still working on projects whcih help bring electricity into Brazil. Although sometimes things don't work out for him he doesn't get put down, but keeps trying at the challenge. He even created an organization that continues to work on projects like these.

Fabio Rosa founded both a for-profit corporation -- Agroelectric System of Appropriate Technology (STA) -- and a not-for-profit organization -- the Institute for Development of Natural Energy and Sustainability (IDEAAS).

Through STA and IDEAAS, Rosa has been working to bring electricity and community development to rural Brazil since the early 1980s using a combination of non-profit and business approaches to reach the largest possible number of people, including the very poor. IDEAAS creates and demonstrates models of self-sustainable development for low-income rural populations by focusing on the use of high-efficiency and low-cost technologies in the fields of renewable energy and agricultural science. STA has been one of the leading companies in Brazil spreading the use of solar energy and managed grazing systems.

As you can see Fabio is a POWER PLAYER for his country.

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
