Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

An idea I had for local food sharing, and ideas generally

I have been looking at everyone's ideas, it seems there are many ideas and plans for some pretty awesome stuff.

I confess I get ideas. Sometimes I even go so far as to plan them out. Some of them are even ideas to help people in my area.

One idea I had and spent a lot of time thinking about last year was to make a community food trade forum. Basically, I was thinking about how most of the people I know have some pretty specific resources, often beyond their needs, similarly, there is a lot of waste created by being in the wrong place at the right time. Food gets thrown away or not utilized because the people who need it, don't have access. My plan was an interface by which scroungers, gardeners, and those with access to food that would otherwise be thrown away can trade these items so that when one person has a glut, it can be distributed among people who want it, and in return, that person can benefit from other people who have access to other types of food at different times. I would do this by letting people post what they have available and connecting them to people who want to trade. Also by keeping track of a "trade balance", so that no one takes undue advantage. (Although I wouldn't want to ascribe any kind of artificial value to what people contributed, I'd organize trades on a basis of supply and demand, letting people accept trades that they found worthwhile.) I was thinking about doing this on a pretty small scale, so my friends could participate pretty much but of course it would be open to others. Because free food makes everyone happy. I know this wouldn't take too much work. That is the kind of thing I'd like to collaborate on though, because on the one hand, to keep me going, and on the other hand, it is nice to get perspective on this kind of thing so I can see where things can be improved. Especially I'd like to work with someone who knows something about making websites, because that is kind of how I envision it.

I have another idea for a social game based on infiltration that I am excited about, but it is not really in the vein of Evoke. And a plan for a business that I could start with a little help and more planning.

Occasionally I get these schemes.... I will try to keep Evoke in the loop. (Also, I really would love to collaborate, and if there is anyone out there wanting to get going on an Evokation, I would love to be your friend and see what I can do.

Yes--a return to the barter system. I have five chickens in my backyard: they will soon lay too many eggs for us to consume....

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
