A crash course in changing the world.
A lot of people have heard of Buffalo Wings. They are Buffalo, NY's claim to culinary fame (http://www.anchorbar.com). Last year, however, there was an issue in Buffalo that involved a different sort of chicken wing... the live and flapping kind. A local couple that was keeping several hens in their backyard were told by a City of Buffalo Animal Control Officer that they could not keep their chickens (http://bit.ly/2IR52I). Fortunately, after months of petitioning the city to change its law the chickens were finally allowed to return home (http://bit.ly/uatpj).
With three children ages four and under in my home raising chickens isn't something that I'm in a hurry to do at the moment, but by 2020 this might be a fun thing to do. I imagine that in 2020, after I buy some chickens and get them to lay eggs for me, my breakfasts would include the freshest eggs I've ever tasted. In addition to the improved taste of the eggs I would be reducing my carbon footprint just a little bit since these eggs wouldn't have to be packaged or transported long distances in order to reach my breakfast table. The more I think about it the more I like the idea of having another kind of Buffalo wing in my life. I just hope that ten years is enough time to convince my wife that this is a good idea.
