A crash course in changing the world.
For my water visionary I chose an association rather than a single person. Ashoka Fellows is a "global association of the world’s leading social entrepreneurs". (See my ACT 1 blog post) In terms of water innovation, Ashoka is "convening groups of leading social entrepreneurs to combine experiences, identify underlying insights and trends in their innovative solutions, and hatch new actions based on the results". It has brought 4 groups together, with a total of 33 members. They have created Change Makers , which utilizes competitions to create new ideas and gain more supporters. They also have partnered with the Global Water Challenge to do the same. This partnership has already led to 264 new innovations from around the world.
"The results so far are substantial and sometimes surprising, integrating with successes in global climate change, public health, childhood retention in schools, technology innovation, and local economic development – all as they pertain to water and sanitation".
Ashoka fellows is intelligently bringing people together to spark and share innovative ideas. I think the competitions they are holding are a great way to come up with new ways to solve the Global Water Crisis. The purpose of this blog post is to spread the word about Ashoka and to encourage people to donate. I will be making a donation in the next couple of days. Now is the best time to donate for the Brin Wojcicki Foundation will double any donation you make.
