A crash course in changing the world.

Sometimes dreams come true, although when psychologists actually studied this stuff they discovered that positive visualisation doesn't work. It's actually better to focus on the next step than to dream about where you will be ten years from now.

I could be anywhere in ten years. I'm on the other side of the world from where I was ten years ago, doing a job I never imagined I would do, living a life totally unlike the life I used to lead. Possibilities are endless, but a few things are clear when I look into the crystal ball of my imagination. Mostly they are values, the drives that make certain visions attractive. The ways those values manifest themselves can vary, but the important thing underneath remains the same.

For example, I'm sitting at my desk and whenever I look out of the window I see green. I'm at treetop height looking out over a large park. In ten years I may be living on a boat, or on a mountain, or somewhere in the centre of a major city, but I won't be looking at concrete. Nature is important. I like to wake up to the sound of birds singing, to walk my dog in places with interesting smells and butterflies, to be aware of the changing seasons and know which way the wind is blowing. My vision for 2020 includes nature as part of my life.

For example, my job now requires me to spend time with people I like and help them to grow. (I don't have any students I don't like.) I share new ideas, open their eyes, encourage them to experiment and dream. I'm a teacher and every day brings some new challenge, some new insight. It's very rewarding when someone understands something that makes a difference to the way they live their lives, and change happens right before your eyes. My vision for 2020 includes a leadership role, helping people make their worlds better.

For example, I'm getting stiff shoulders from sitting in front of my computer for too long. I missed my yoga class today. Usually I am very strict about ensuring that my lifestyle revolves around wellness. Health is a choice, first and foremost, and if I don't make time to take care of my basic needs then the world won't. The world will feed me junk food and keep me sitting in a chair if I allow it to. Usually I make the right choices, and my vision for 2020 includes maintaining the freedom to be the healthy role-model I aspire to be today.

It all relates to living in the moment, yes? And if we live well now, we will create that better future.

Thanks, yes. I think that sums it up nicely. To live well now we have to think about what is important, and this helps us define our goals for the longer term. When I was younger it was all about "I want to be a spaceman" but I never asked why. Once we ask why we want these things we can think more clearly about what we really want.

We only understand what we have done AFTER we have done it - when we do something right now, we don't know how this is going to impact the future, we cross our fingers and act with best intentions until the future becomes today, and we look back and discover what it is we have done.......

Sir, I am sad and disappointed that I never had you as an educator.

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
